A CNA career is a wonderful career in health care with many opportunities for employment which include hospitals, nursing care facilities and in a patient's home. The CNA works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs basic nursing functions which include taking vital signs, ambulation and personal care, while working under the supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse.

There are various ways to train to become a CNA which include both paid and free programs. Depending on the path you choose to train, will depend on the time that you will need to invest to become a CNA. Where to Obtain Free CNA Training

There are a number of sources to obtain free CNA training and likely one of the best is through local health care facilities in your community. There are two reasons for this. First, because you will be provided with hands on training, and receive valuable experience. Second, because most often, once you complete the cna classes training the healthcare facility will offer you employment.

What you need to consider when you obtain the free CNA training through a local health care facility is that it will likely take longer than should you enroll in a course. If you are interested in training through a local health care facility in your community, then make a list of the facilities near your home, and begin to call each. You will want to speak to the head nurse and ask if they offer such training. If they do, then schedule an appointment where you CNA meet with the head nurse and tour the facility. You want ot make sure that you interact with others that are working at the facility and get a feel for the nature of the people there. You'll also want to inspect the facility for cleanliness.

Once you have decided on a facility that is willing to train you, then you will be provided a contract which states that you will perform various duties for a set amount of time in exchange for your CNA training. It is crucial that you choose the facility that you feel the most comfortable in and is qualified to provide you with the training.

Once you have completed the course, you will then take the state exam. Upon passing the state exam you will then be put into the registry and receive your CNA license, and begin to seek employment.

Other free means of CNA training is through high schools and community colleges, although there may be a small enrollment fee and you likely will have to purchase books and other course materials. You will also find free online cna classes available.

Students may also qualify for grants or financial aid which will help to offset the cost of the course, and something that may be worth looking into, should you not be able to obtain free CNA training. CNA is a career that is a wonderful choice in careers for those that enjoy caring for people.
