Edinburgh is one of Europe’s most visited destinations, the capitol of Scotland has a unique blend of historical architecture and modern buildings. The older buildings include the Castle which overlooks the city and Scots Monument which gives you the best view of the city from its peak. The new buildings include the Scottish Parliament building which was built for the devolved Scottish government and which is free to tour round.
There are many reasons to visit Edinburgh but if you are planning on a trip during peak season you may find the price of hotel accommodation can be pretty expensive (average room rate is £100 per night). But don’t worry there are some excellent hotels in Edinburgh city centre which offer comfortable and clean accommodation and a more modest rate.
- King James Thistle Hotel
Part of the Thistle Hotel chain, the King James is very centrally situated, it is above one of the main shopping centres at the end of Princes Street. It is a short walk from here to either Princes Street or Leith and a perfect location for all the main shops in the city.
- The Jurys Inn Edinburgh
Again part of a larger hotel chain, the Jurys Inn is one of the best bargains in Edinburgh, rooms start from under £50 per night and the hotel has a fantastic central location on a few minutes walk from both Princes Street and the Royal Mile.
- Apex City Hotel
Enjoy four star luxury without the price tag to match, the hotel is situated in the old town region of Edinburgh again within walking distance of all the main areas of the city. The hotel also has some great facilities with free Wi-Fi, a bar, restaurant and use of nearby leisure centre with swimming pool.
- Nile Caledonia
Situated to the North of the city but still easy walking distance from Princes Street the Nile is rated 5 stars by VisitScotland but you can get a room for under £100 per night which makes it pretty good value. The standard rooms are very comfortable but if you try a luxury room you can enjoy the added bonus of a Jacuzzi in your room!
- Princes Street Suites
IF you are looking for something a little different from the standard hotel room in Edinburgh then why not try a serviced apartment. These suites are very centrally located and offer the added functionality of being able to cook meals in the included kitchen. They start from only £60 per night for a 2 person studio and are excellent value for money.
There are many other hotels in Edinburgh available to book online, the above options are just some of the best value ones.
