LIHEAP, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, is an energy assistance program to help those who are unable to afford their energy bills throughout the winter months. Since most people use more energy doing the winter months, making their bills higher and funds are available to assist with the cost. This program assists individuals with energy and gas bills, which can make a huge difference in the amount you have to pay. Also, during the summer, LIHEAP provides air conditioners to low income individuals; however this program is on a first come first served basis. Some alderman offices provide air conditioners as well, so it is best to check for information locally.
To get additional assistance on grants for single mothers, you must look on the state and federal level. Thankfully there are financial aid and services available from both. By helping single mothers, our children who represent the future just might get a better shot at having a happy and healthier life. Before jumping in and searching, ask yourself a few questions like: What kind of grant am I looking for? What amount of money do I need? Am I looking for a local grant or a federal grant?
Asking yourself these questions will save you time when searching grants for single mothers. This is not to say that you can't change your mind and look for other information or apply for multiple grants.
