The skeletal system of the body is made up of bones, discs and cartilages. The cartilage tissues cushion and lubricate the bones whenever we are twisting, jumping, walking or doing any type of motion. As we age, degeneration of the spine sets in, we experience back pain because the cartilage that supports each disc becomes wears out. When the disc bulges, the condition is called a bulging disc also known as slipped disc.
Different back pain symptoms may occur for slipped disc. It depends on the locality of the slipped disc. If the back pain symptoms happen, is because of pressure pressing on the nerve roots. For example, the pressure on the spinal cord may cause problems in controlling the bladder. All the back pain symptoms for slipped disc have to be taken seriously.
There are many ways to treat back pain from slipped disc. Most people will opt for evasive methods such as surgery with the intention to get rid of the pain once and for all. Unfortunately, surgery is not a guarantee solution. Sometimes, the pain does come back after a period of time. Most often than not, most patients need to do some form of rehabilitative exercises after the surgery to allow them to regain their back strength. Usually it would be during this period that it dawned to most patients that rehabilitative exercises such as Pilates could actually help to provide back pain relief from slipped disc. However, they were usually not informed of non evasive methods before the surgery.
