When you joined your current MLM program, you were no doubt told to write down the names of everyone you know and then begin contacting them. You were told that all you had to do was tell them how wonderful your program is and how much money they can make with it, after which they would join under you, making you and them rich. Sounds simple, doesn't it? It didn't work, did it? Cold-calling people you barely know and hassling your family and friends are not lead generation systems. Without a good plan, without a good MLM lead system, you will suffer the same fate as 95% of all network marketers: disillusionment and failure.
To get leads that you can turn into distributors, you need to provide value. And no, telling people how wonderful your products are and how much money they can make selling them is not providing value. There are no doubt a bazillion other people promoting the same program as you and they are all using that same outdated approach. Before anyone is going to join your program they not only want to know what is in it for them, they want to know how they are going to get there, and if you can't provide that information, you won't get any leads. If you can provide that information, qualified leads will literally beat a path to your door.
What value are you providing to show prospective leads that you care about their success? Telling them to "make a list of everyone you know" isn't what they want to hear. I’ll bet that’s not what you wanted to hear either. What they want to hear is how you can add value to their lives. And you can add value by understand what problems they face and then helping them solve those problems. Heck, in the network marketing world, their problems and concerns are probably the same as yours. When you truly understand that, you are worlds ahead of virtually all other network marketers.
A good MLM lead system provides value - without asking for anything in return. Can you provide value even if the prospect doesn't join your program? That is what you should strive for. If you want to be successful, add value to others. It may seem counter-intuitive, but if you practice this concept you will get all the leads you need, leads that will welcome the opportunity to participate in your program.
