Take a lemon or two, as per your taste, and extract its juice. Mix it with water. Add some honey to the mix and drink the blend. It is a highly effective tonic to get rid of a cold. Honey itself works wonders if consumed in small amount on a daily basis. For that matter, one can include lemon and honey in their daily diet and that would also prevent one from catching a cold every now and then.
Stop Smoking and Stop Drinking!
Cold is an infection in the upper respiratory tract hence smoking cigarettes or any other similar products can be counterproductive and at times harmful. If you stop smoking immediately after catching a cold, you can see the difference almost instantly. You throat would feel better and you would have less trouble while breathing. The nicotine in tobacco products helps the cold to get worse.
A drink or two may make you feel better when you catch a cold, but it does not help you to get rid of it. It only offers you temporary relief by warming up your body. As a result, there are further chances of catching cold due to the increase in body temperature.
