Refrain from using images in your emails if possible. While images may look good, it takes a longer time for them to load, that is if they even load at all. Know the audience you are targeting. When you have acquired a small group of viewers, think of innovative ways to get them to spread the word to their friends. Include a link to subscribe at the top of your emails so that anyone who receives a copy that has been forwarded from a friend can sign up as well. After this, your base should begin to grow on its own.
Make your emails as personal as possible. You can go far beyond simply inserting a recipient's name into a standardized message. Use all the information you have on each subscriber. Separate your subscribers into small groups that have common interests. Create different messages for these different groups.
You must be persistent with your email marketing strategy. While persistence is important in email marketing, it only of value when your efforts are focused on the right audience. Continuing to target the wrong group of potential clients simply creates ill will and is not a good use of resources.
If your opt-in gives you birthday data, always send celebratory messages. Have birthday messages automated so that they go to subscribers on their special days. Include a friendly congratulatory message with a coupon or discount code to thank them for their continued business.
Occasionally mix your format up to add personality. For instance, you may consider using plain text, rather than HTML. When done judiciously, this can make your customer feel a personal connection to you and your products.
