In this final installment of SEO Terms Explained, we'll discuss 5 more terms related to the search engine optimization industry. However, it should be noted that this comprehensive SEO index will be constantly updated and expanded as the nature of the industry shifts focus and changes the strategies we use to dominate our various markets. Tags

And because tags are designed to help users find specific content, search engines pay attention to what you're saying - or not saying - with your tags.

Top Level Domain
A Top Level Domain generally refers to a domain that you own that is not part of any sub-domain. This is especially important to affiliate marketers, who must often redirect the links they build to point from a top-level domain to their affiliate site or page.
*URL
A URL or Uniform Resource Locator is a web address. If one dissects the term literally, it's clear that a URL is a universal way of locating resources; i.e. the content on your website. URLs are designed for human eyes, but the exact language that is put into play when a URL is entered into a web browser is actually a complex series of computer code.
*White Hat SEO
White Hat SEO refers to tactics used to promote a website that are safely within the Terms of Use of major search engines - most notably Google. These strategies include genuine article and press release marketing, manual blog commenting and a great deal more. However, it's interesting to note that by deliberately building backlinks with these strategies, White Hat suddenly seems more like Grey Hat, and the entire SEO process becomes rather complex and blurred. And because the penalties of straying outside the safe lines can be severe, it's advisable to only trust such matters to a professional search engine optimization company.
*Wordpress
WordPress is a website platform - it is the very structure and "theme" of a website itself. WordPress is also one of the most powerful content management systems in the world, which is why it is among the most widely used platforms. Additionally, WordPress is an excellent platform for SEO purposes. WordPress themes come in an impressive array of different types, including hundreds that are free for public use. Some software programs allow users to build their own custom WordPress themes, while a tech-savvy user can easily create a site from scratch.
