Most people find it hard to quit smoking. Just thinking about it, terrifies them already. It's not easy to give up the pleasure of smoking and this are some of the few habits that most people can't just quit on immediately. If a person plans to stop smoking, he needs to make this decision for himself and support from his family is needed as well. There are 3 major problems encountered by a person who decides to quit smoking. Having knowledge about these will enable you to be a successful non-smoker.
The first problem is facing temptation. We can't deny the fact that everywhere we look, we can find cigarettes. The numbers of smokers around are already shocking, but when begin to stop smoking it seems that the number is multiplying even more. Remember that it is just your mind whose playing tricks on you, it can be difficult at first but it's still a good idea to resist temptation and stick to your goal.
When you feel overwhelmed by the temptation, start walking away immediately. If you are in a situation, where you are trapped, you have to plan earlier a stress relieving strategy which will help you ignore the temptation. To minimize being lured in again by smoking, it is a good idea to avoid factors that will trigger you to smoke. You can find a place where you can have your lunch away from the smokers. You should always be alert and on the lookout, because if you fail to do so, you will find yourself smoking once again.
The next problem will be the questions asked by people around you. Your loved ones and your close friends are happy to know that you decided to quit smoking. But it is undeniable that everyone else is still going to ask you why. The simple question why, will become a big issue after the 3rd time it is asked. If you are dedicated to quit smoking, this wouldn't pose a problem for you. But you need to think real hard, why on the first place you wanted to stop smoking. You must believe and stand up for your reason. Otherwise, you need to have a long conversation with yourself if you start second guessing every time someone asks you. Unless you truly want to quit, you will never succeed.
No matter what path you choose, your family will support you all the way. You just need to convince yourself, and this needs a good reason and argument. Remember that, no one can argue with you as much as you argue with yourself. If you chose to quit smoking, your nagging side will always be dominant.
The final thing to consider is to find products that could help you quit smoking. It might sound weird but this becomes a big dilemma for a lot of people. First, you have to know the reason why you smoke so that you could choose the best product to fulfill your desire to quit successfully. If you are like the people who smoke because of stress, then you need to resolve the stress. On the other hand, if you smoke because you are addicted to nicotine, then you should start withdrawing from nicotine using a gum or a patch.
Whatever reason you have, you can find a product designed for you. It is not impossible to find the best product. However, you will need to be honest with yourself first. But if you can't find the reason behind your smoking habit, try finding other things to do with your hands and mouth once you have the urge to smoke again. If you just smoke due to boredom, find something else to do like squeezing a stress ball. You might be surprised, that's it's just what you need to be a successful non-smoker.
