When installing a home theater, it is better to install surround sound for facilitating the movie-theater-like experience. Nowadays, many homeowners are going for in-wall speaker wires when installing speakers on walls to avoid wires running all over the room from one speaker to another. To avoid potential electrical dangers and wiring problems, it is essential to select the wires properly.
An in-wall wire will have four main parts first is called as inner conductors, which are the working part that carries the sound and are wrapped in the second part, is insulation that saves the sensitive metal. Third part is an outer jacket where the whole cord is wrapped for keeping the multiple inner conductors together and the fourth part is the filler, which is used for filling any space between the first three parts in such a way that they do not move around when the wire is stringed.
When purchased, most of the speakers are not offered along with speaker wires, but for connecting the speakers, it is essential to have speaker wires, which play a major role in transmitting the sound to the right speakers at the right time. Irrespective of the quality of speakers, a good quality sound can be obtained only when quality wires are used in the installation of speakers.
Speaker wires meant for installation inside the wall is being used these days not only in homes, but also in commercial establishments as well. These wires are categorized according to their thickness and lower number indicates a thicker wire and they are rated with gauge number between 12 and 16. They are also classified according to the type of metal from which they are made. When purchasing in-wall speaker wires, it is essential to take into consideration the distance between the amplifier and the speakers and for farther away speaker it is better to use thicker wires for obtaining the best quality sound.
Normally, speaker wires are offered in different sizes like 12AWG, 14AWG, 16AWG and 18AWG. A 14 gauge wire can be used for distances of 80 to 200 feet, while 16 gauge wire can be used for distances of less than 80 feet and 12 gauge wire can cover greater distance than 14AWG and 18 can cover lesser distance than all other three sizes. Therefore, it is better to get the exact measurement before purchasing the wires for in-walls in such a way that the best quality sound can be acquired from the speakers.
