As more and more people flock to the Internet for their entertainment, companies have had to scramble to find a way to reach out to this audience to advertise their products and services. The main way to do this is to have website banner ads on different web pages. The way that this works is that a person creates a free website and, in exchange for that, the server places advertisements like yours at the top of the page. The ads usually change each time the page is visited so there is no guarantee when yours will pop up. These can be great advertising tools, especially if you have them placed on websites for popular topics like actors or television shows.
With website banner ads, the key is to get the person to click on it. When they click on it, it will take them to your website where they can learn more information about your products and services and how to go about getting them. The web ad campaign is a failure if not enough people click on your ad at the top of the screen. The rate of success for this type of advertising campaign is measured in the amount of clicks that occur per hour and per day. You want that number to be high because that means a lot of people are seeing your ad and going to your website.
If at all possible, try not to make your website banner ads annoying. In other words, you can have some animation with it, but do not have one that will automatically drop down and get on someone's nerves. It would also be a good idea to stay away from having one with sound. There is nothing that makes a person madder than when they visit a website and an ad starts blaring out music or a narrator starts talking.
The trick to having a successful campaign with website banner ads is to keep them low key. You want them to be noticeable, but in a good way. You are far more likely to get someone to click on your ad if they are pleasing to the eye and are relevant to the age group that would generally visit that website. In other words, do not put an ad for a carpet cleaner on a web page about the boy band, One Direction. Instead, you would want to put ads for movies and cool gadgets to get their attention.
