If crunches are all you are doing, you aren't working your abs as hard as you need to. Vary your abdominal exercises for superior results.
Lifting lighter weights with more reps is better at building strength than lifting heavy weights a few times. This forces your muscles to work harder. Target a weight amount that is approximately half of your maximum lifting amount.
Find what works best for you and stick to it. Even if it seems embarrassing, if a certain routine, habit or exercise makes you fitter and is not dangerous, keep at it! Try getting weight belts, or using other types of weights to exercise your body throughout the day. You may find that a weight belt that is worn constantly has its drawbacks. If they are constantly being supported and held up by a belt, those muscles will be vulnerable and weak without it.
A good fitness trick involves putting your tongue firmly to the roof of the mouth while you do your crunches or situps. Using this trick will keep your neck muscles properly aligned. You can prevent injury and strain if you do this.
