A petition is a good way to change something but many people don’t know how to start an online petition. Petitions are the best weapon that the modern human has at his hand to try and urge the government to change something that needs changing.

Read the steps below and we will teach you how to start a petition online free of charge:

  1. Creating a petition is easy, but first you have to choose the website that will host it. Most of them provide the same service, so this step basically resumes to preference. There are many petition sites out there but you have to search for the ones that have results because those are the most trusted ones and a trusted petition site will bring you closer to reaching your goal.

  2. After choosing the website, you have to know everything about the subject of the petition you want to make. For instance, who are you petitioning? What is the goal – i.e. what do you expect to change. And the most important thing is the message of the petition because you can’t change something, if it doesn’t urge you to take action on that matter. So you need a clear-cut text, that explains to the reader what is it that you want to change and why.

  3. Take time to write the petition, but don’t make it too short or too long. Finding the right balance is critical for the campaign.

  4. Look for petition letter samples and find out more about what the text of the petition has to include.

  5. After everything is written, all you have to do is publish the petition. Think that’s all? Well the work has just begun.

  6. After publishing the petition you have to help the signatures grow. Promote it on your Facebook page and ask your friends and colleagues to sign. Search for other social networks and try promoting it there as well. Find pages that support the cause you are fighting for and try sending them an e-mail, asking them to help promote your petition.

Every signature counts in the fight for achieving what you want so try to come back and share the petition with as many people as you can. Some online marketing strategies might be of use in promoting the petition. Lack the necessary experience? Don't worry, sharing the petition on social networks might do the job. Good luck!
