Perhaps the name of SAP has been synonymous of the art of advanced analytical methods, since its introduction over 30 years ago. SAP2000 follows in the same tradition with a clear interface, intuitive and versatile user driven by a stable analytical tools and practical design, for engineers working on building motor roads for land structures, industrial buildings, public, sports and other installations where it is necessary to base the project structures.
From its graphical modeling environment, based on 3D objects, such as curso revit architectural, to the wide variety of analysis and design options completely integrated, across one powerful user interface, SAP2000 has proven to be a general purpose structural program integrated, productive and practical than defined as the primary choice for structural analysis in most universities worldwide.
This intuitive interface allows you to create structural models without a long learning curve and also has a series of video training series in Viadas Editorial, you could be making your first analysis in a matter of a few hours.
SAP2000 provides a series of templates to help you quickly set analysis models, applicable even for complex models.
Integrated design code features can automatically generate wind loads, wave hit under the bridge, and seismic loads with comprehensive automatic steel and code controls for concrete design for international design standards, including of course the United States and Canada.
Advanced analytical techniques enable to carry on large deformation analysis, Eigen and Ritz analyzes based on the rigidity of nonlinear cases, catenary cable analysis, analysis of nonlinear fiber materials hinged shell multilayer element (shell) nonlinear buckling analysis, progressive collapse analysis, methods for controlling power drift velocity dependent damping, the insulating base support plasticity and nonlinear analysis of segmental construction.
Nonlinear analysis history can be static and / or dynamic, with options for FNA nonlinear time history dynamic analysis and direct integration.
From a simple small 2D static analysis frame for a threshold to a large non-linear dynamic analysis for a complex 3D spatial structure, SAP2000 is the easiest solution for your needs and structural analysis and design.
The new SAP2000 v17
For a long time the name SAP2000 has been synonymous of structural analysis and perhaps we could say, that there isn't a structural engineer who has not at least tried to make their calculations on this interface, if not their daily work tool.
Now it is announced that CSI is releasing a new version of this same V17 on August 2014 with the following improvements, although some had already been announced in version 16.
Well before proceeding it would be appropriate to discuss with our friends who are interested, that these are only subtle adjustments. None involves a radical change on the management interface or the introduction of such revolutionary commands that change or improve the management is already done from previous versions 14 and 15, as we saw in curso revit architectural, so there is no need to abandon the traditional interfaces and buy the new version right away.
We comment only some improvements taken from the official website of CSI:
Steel frame design has been added according to the code Norsok N-004-2013 Good for the Norwegians! They will be overjoyed.
Autoloading crosswind was added according to API 4F 2013 code.
The database files section of Chinese property are enhanced by the addition of new sections.
A bilinear Maxwell damper has been implemented as a new property bond. This device is a linear spring in series with a damper force-velocity relation which exhibits bilinear, typical of certain oil dampers having a viscous behavior relief valve. (Very similar to Autodesk Robot).
A hysteretic damping friction spring has been implemented as a new property bond. Exhibitions of the force-displacement linear slip stiffness when loaded, but with a smaller download slip stiffness. A pre-compression displacement and displacement limit stop can be specified.
The specification of the theoretical scale used with time-dependent creep and shrinkage analysis has been enhanced to now be specified with the properties of the frame and the shell section rather than material property.
A new operation staged construction "Change Section and age" is now available that allows the specification of the "Ages Add" to change frame section or sections of shell.
Output table can now apply the correspondence between the components of the response to a single location for additive-free range, and load combinations surround type. Results supporting correspondence includes most of the quantities of displacement, force, and stress response.
Importing data from primary data files is available SACS
As you can see there are important to very specific improvements, but unfortunately very far from Latin American design codes cases, while not differing a lot from each other, would have been something that Spanish speakers would have gladly taken.
Construction and Design are my life. I'm always on the lookout for new software applications that help me to improve in this wide field, from structural analysis to rendering, modeling and visualization.
