For many people, lunch time is also the busiest part of the day. You know very well that it's not a good idea to skip meals so this will leave you to have no choice at all but to eat unhealthy fast food. But the truth is you can actually prepare your own lunch a night before and bring it to where you are. This way, you will never find it difficult to keep yourself healthy in the middle of your busy schedule. In this article, you will be provided with relevant information that you ought to know about healthy things to eat for lunch. Here they are:
Fresh Fruits
If you find yourself craving for some sweets, doughnuts or cakes are obviously not good choices. Fortunately, you don't have to suppress your craving for sweet foods and that is by simply eating fresh fruits. Fruits also contain significant amounts of sugar which eventually make them taste sweet. However, the sugar that you can find in doughnuts or cakes, glucose, is entirely different from the sugar you can find in fruits, fructose. Fructose is a more complex form of sugar that does not instantly raise your blood sugar the way glucose does. Aside from that, fruits are significant sources of vitamins A, C, E and some other vitamins essential in strengthening your immune system and keeping your body healthy. Those are the reason why fruits are among healthy things to eat for lunch.
Vegetables
Also included in the list of healthy things to eat for lunch are of course the vegetables. Just like fruits, they also contain vitamins and minerals to keep you healthy. But unlike fruits, some people actually find vegetable ill-tasting, most especially among children. That is exactly why vegetable salads came into diet solution trend. It's fairly easy to prepare vegetable salads. All you have to do is to cut or slice them into pieces and add dressings and some other condiments. The great thing about salads is that there is no cooking involved.
Nuts
If you want some texture with what you are eating, eating nuts could be the most ideal food to eat. Instead of eating salty junk foods, nuts such as almonds, walnuts and some other nuts are also considered as healthy things to eat for lunch. Various types of nuts are rich sources of minerals such as magnesium, manganese, iron and selenium. Nut mixes are now readily available in the supermarket.
Other Healthy Things to Eat for Lunch
As it was said earlier, fruits, vegetables and nuts are healthy foods that do not involve cooking. But if you could spare a little of your time, you can actually make your own healthy lunch that is very easy to prepare. Here they are:
-
Spinach salad with broccoli: Most people don't know that spinach and broccoli contain more protein than red meat and they have zero saturated fat, in addition to vital enzymes and micronutrients not found in animal-based food.
-
Tuna sandwich: Tuna is considered a white meat that also contains high quality omega 3 oils.
-
Oatmeal: Oatmeal is not only good for breakfast. It can also be served during lunch or any time of the day.
Those are just a few healthy things to eat for lunch. Hopefully, you find the information here helpful if you want to know the right foods to eat. Again, healthy diet is not just about the amount of food you eat, what is more important is how healthy are your food choices.
