A good diet is very integral for everybody especially those who have been diagnosed with arthritis. Arthritic patients commonly experience limited mobility which might lead to diabetes, heart disease and even increased weight gain. Since arthritis is an irreversible disease, many people have been trying to reduce its effects through exercise and food instead of prescriptions and surgery which are more likely to make the body weaker. A good arthritis diet plan should contain essential substances needed to help them cut off extra weight or prevent them from gaining weight. This is because this disease makes the joints weaker meaning that a person with 20% or more above the normal body weight will definitely feel more pain in the joints.
Arthritis Diet Plan Guidelines
Previous research has suggested that you can actually reduce the pain caused by arthritis when your arthritis diet plan includes olive oil in most meals. This is because olive oil has been proven to be an essential component that aids to reduce the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis by approximately 2.5 times. A balanced diet should not be ignored if you are suffering from arthritis. According to physicians who specialize in this disease, a patient is required to eat from all the four basic food groups at every meal. This means that your meals should include proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and mineral salts.
You should avoid ingesting too much fat whether saturated or cholesterol since they are the main catalysts of unnecessary weight gain. Excess sugar should be avoided at all costs because it provides empty calories and very little nutrition hence contributing to weight gain. Other foods that should be avoided are alcohol and excess salts. The latter is to blame for water retention in the body while the former is high in calories besides being capable of depleting vitamins and minerals from the body.

As an individual who suffers from arthritis you may be wondering which foods to eat given that you are advised to stay away from probably your former eating habits. Here are some of the foods that will have a positive impact on your health when consumed.
Your arthritis diet plan should almost resemble that of a vegetarian, meaning that you should try as much as possible to reduce consumption of red meat. Foods with high polyunsaturated fats such as fish, soybeans, avocado and walnuts are essential in reducing joint pains and other symptoms that characterize arthritis. Replace fried and processed foods with herbal teas, juices and vegetable soups and also try to shop for fresh and healthy foodstuffs. Diet can easily alleviate or even worsen the symptoms of arthritis in your body. This is a clear indication that there is need to constantly monitor your arthritis diet plan to find out if there is something aggravating your arthritis. The easiest way of doing this is keeping a journal of what you have eaten, and the effects thereafter. However, make sure you consult your doctor before making any drastic changes in your daily arthritis diet plan.
