Many people have thought of building a quadcopter, but not everyone is aware of the ways to build one. In fact, there are 4 ways to build quadcopter. Here, I will share with you what are the 4 ways and what you need to consider before choosing a way.

The Easy Way – All-inclusive kit

An all-inclusive kit is a single kit that has all the necessary parts to build a functional quadcopter. The kit comes with the instruction manual where it shows us the step by step instruction on how to build one. This kit is suitable for you if you have no trouble assembling IKEA furniture.

The Moderate Way – Almost ready to fly (ARF) Kit

In this moderate way, ARF kit, we have the flexibility and versatility to source for quadcopter parts separately. If you would like to have some challenges in building a quadcopter, this may be the perfect way for you. An ARF kit typically comes with a set of parts, but not complete enough to build a functional quadcopter. In example, DJI F450 ARF Multicopter Quadcopter Kit.

The Hard Way – Frame kit

This way of building quadcopter requires time and effort from us. In The Moderate Way, we have the quadcopter frame with some parts made available, but in The Hard Way, the only available part is the frame. Hence, we will need to do research on quadcopter, to buy, build and tune to the quadcopter to become a functional one.

The Expert Way – Scratch

This is the highest level of difficulty, which is to build parts from scratch. Quadcopter as a complete unit has its one set of flight dynamics. When a combination of different parts are put together, the quadcopter need to be calibrated so that the movements are smooth.

Which way to go?

The 4 ways to build quadcopter mentioned above vary in their level of difficulty. The best way is to start with the easy way. Once we are familiar with the parts and functionality of quadcopter, then we can move to other ways and try to build other quadcopters.
