The Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) season is approaching and kids, as well as parents, are beginning to worry. Kids are staying up late night and parents are returning early to help their kids study better. Although relying on just last minute studying is not the way to crack PSLE, these quick tips will help you score better.
Solve Past Year’s PSLE Papers:
Solving the previous year’s PSLE papers for PSLE Science, PSLE Math and PSLE English can help students understand the paper pattern and the type of questions that are asked. It is essential to have a clear understanding of what kind of questions appear in PSLE. Practising past year PSLE papers shall make the student not only confident, but will also help them finish the paper faster due to practice. Students must pay special attention to the average distribution of topics in PSLE Science, PSLE Math and PSLE English respectively. Knowing the average distribution, can help students plan their study schedule accordingly and pay more attention to the high-scoring topics while revising.
Find Your Own Revision Pattern:
Not all students can wake up early and revise and on the other hand, not all students can cope up with late night studies. Based on the child’s habit and what they are comfortable with, they can set their own revision pattern. Each person’s brain ability is different and therefore, do not follow what others are doing. What might work for other students might not work for you. PSLE papers can be stressful and therefore, it is important to have a comfortable revision pattern.
Make Time For Play
Let your child take time off and play. Even though it may sound counter productive, it is not. Breaking away from routine activities such as playing or even watching television, only deter your child from concentrating. In fact if you give them short play breaks, when they do actually sit to study, their focus shall be much better, making them avoid silly mistakes when solving PSLE papers and even remembering and retaining things better.
Take Notes:
A Scientific American Research reveals that students who study from handwritten notes remember better and for a longer duration than those who don’t. Therefore, while studying and revising, don’t forget to keep your notepad handy. Make a note of PSLE Math formulas, this way you will easily be able to recollect the formula while taking the PLSE Math Paper. You visually remember your handwriting better than the printed copy.
Time Management:
While taking the PSLE exams, time management is essential. Students waste a lot of time travelling, alternatively, students can enrol for online revision sessions for cracking PSLE papers. By doing so, students can save a lot of time and can learn from the comforts of their homes. Have realistic revision timetables and do not put yourself into any kind of pressure, for it might negatively impact your retaining capabilities. Right time management can help the student stay focused, making revision less dull and dreary.
Lastly, don’t let the PSLE papers pressurise you and impact your health. For if it does, all your studying efforts could go in vain. Take proper rest, sleep well, and eat right. Our last bit of advice - don’t just chase the grade, enjoy the learning process, as there’s a lot that you can gain and enjoy.
