Are you planning to get the 3D print design in resin? Do you want to know about the technology behind 3D printing in resin? If yes, then this article would help you to learn about the different types of resins you can choose for your 3D print design. Gone are the days when people used to design something on a piece of paper as people nowadays prefer using 3D printing technology for preparing designs for various businesses.3D printed design helps your products to give a feel and look and it becomes easier to analyses whether the product design needs any change or not. You can find a number of companies that offer the 3D design services in India, but you need to learn about the different types of resins for 3D printing.
How 3D printing in resin works?
The 3D printing is done in a huge tank which is filled with liquid resin. For starting the process, the UV-sensitive liquid polymer layer is spreadabove the platform. A UV laser is applied on some specific parts of the liquid to harden them. Only, the part where laser beam strikes gets hardened and rest of the part remains liquid only. So, the process is repeated again and again until the whole model gets prepared. Before availing the 3D printing design services, it is necessary for you to know about the different types of resins that are used for 3D printing.
Following are the five different types of 3D printed resins:
i) Gray resin:
Smoother than all other types of 3D printing material, the Gray resin is also called as Prime Gray. Much easier to paint, its standard finish mainly comes in the Natural Gray shade. Apart from that, gray resin also has nine different colors to choose from and those colors are blue, white, green, black, yellow, gray, orange, brown, and red.
ii) Standard resin:
Standard resin is a kind of resin that offers the amazing quality at comparatively lower prices so that anyone could afford this type of resin for their 3D print design. Being translucent, the standard resin is smooth in touch and can be easily painted.
iii) Transparent resin:
As the name suggests, transparent resin allows you to print the design in the transparent form. Water-resistant by nature, transparent resin makes it possible to create smaller models of a high-quality and transparent surface. It is ideal for those type of models that either requires a smooth surface or a transparent appearance.
iv) High-detail resin:
The high-detail resin does not make use of stereo lithography, rather it makes use of the 3D printing technology, known as Poly Jet. Typically ideal for the small models that require finely-detailed visuals. To build the 3D design using this resin, Poly Jet prototyping technology is used. It works by jetting ultra-thin layers of resin onto a building tray. This process has to be done layer by layer until the model gets completed.
v) Mammoth resin:
If you are looking to design models with the limited functionality, then this type of resin is ideal for you. The main benefit of using Mammoth resin is that it allows you to print design in a variety of sizes. There is no such freedom of design as you need a structure for supporting the models at the time of printing.
Are you looking for a transparent material or a smooth material for your 3D model? Whatever material you are looking for, you can choose any kind of resin that is ideal for that model. Make sure to read about the different resins before you plan to avail the 3D design services in India.
