Introducion

Poverty is what everyone wishes not to have. Poverty is one attribute that everyone runs from and never want to associate with person that have it.

According to Oxford dictionary, poverty is the state of been poor. When one cannot afford the basic necessity of life. Food, clothing and shelter are the major things/necessary /basic for humans, when one cannot afford any of these one is said to be poor.

In this book I will be explaining poverty in respect to life. Why do people become poor, why is it that when people have job they still be come poor, what does poverty bring to the society, and many other questions.

Many people in our society are battling with this state and they are yet to overcome. We all support the saying that we have three classes of people living in our society.

The Rich

These classes of people are very rich, wealthy and successful. They can afford all basic needs of life in thier style, which means that they can afford clothing, shelter and food in the way they want. Some of them are been advertised to the world just like Bill Gate, Dangote and the rest. They weild more power and respect to the extent that people not up to them try to please them. They are very famous due to the money and the success they make and most of them become mentors to others.

The Average

These set of people are neither rich or poor. They can afford the basic needs of life but not in their style. In the food aspect, when the rich 3-4 yes a day, an average can eat 1-2 times daily. They are also successful people but not to the extent of the rich. They are not famous as the rich due to the fact that they don't have immersed wealth as the rich. The main reason why I say that they are successful is due to the fact that they are not poor. They can make success in other areas that are not famous as rich because the rich weild excellent power, so they snatch the success from the average. Average people take atleast 50-60% of our society and they are most of the people that are been treated badly but due to their determination to success they are able to overcome poverty.

The poor

These classes of people cannot avoid the basics needs of life. Most of them are been seen as a begger, orphans, hawking food materials by the wayside, living underbridge and so on. They cannot cater for themselves talk less of having a family. Food is one of the problem and so you see most of them stealing and doing criminal acts just to survive. They contain almost 70-90% of our society Nigeria to be precise. They are the one that live in the state of been poor(poverty). They made no success in their life and they are not famous for good things, in fact, nobody want to associate with them. They are more unless known as a leapers.

Man is always bound to pass through the stages of life that are either pleasant or unpleasant. Most times we ask ourselves why we gonl through some pian taking situations but untill we realize that we never get to know that all pain taking situations are to teach us one lesson or the other. If we take a look at the bio of all the great people in life, there are always moments that they pass through hard times a d they make it not because they are able to but because they learn from the situation. Being poor is not the end of life but staying and never pushing forward is the end of

life.

Chapter 2

What is poverty?

Poverty has different views in many people minds. Some will say we have different types of poverty, some will say poverty is being poor and others that I can't keep mentioning here. We have seen the meaning that Oxford dictionary gave poverty(the state of being poor). Poverty is something one can fight but it takes a lot of determination.

Poverty, weakens the soul, we can say that when one is poor all hopes is lost. The poor man will not be able to think straight and will not be able to carry out basic functions of life. His soul will be weak to the extent that his thinking mind will not be able to think straight. There will be depression and sorrow in his mind.

Sickness can also come in when one is poor. If we watch most of the poor people in life, they are usually affected with one sickness or the other. The inability to afford the basic of life will bring in sickness such as malaria and the rest. When an outbreak of an epidemic disease is out the poor are the first people to become affected by the disease. Since they lack the abrto cater for all their needs they become affected and they die if there is no one to take care of them.

Emotional instability is another fact that generalized poor people. The inability for them to get what they need make them become emotional unstable and they misused opportunities given to them. One of the fact about poor people is sadness and sorrow. They are usually intimidated in the society they live in and this make them unbalanced in their emotions. Most of them in one way or the other think of a way to get revenge result to bad vices like stealing, frund, bandits killings, kidnapping and the rest. Poverty as the name implies affects not only the heart but also emotions.

The inability for most poor people to think straight make them loses the battle to poverty. The works of poverty kills a man faster than another other things in life. When you are in the state they are three things you need to take away from you which are losing of hope, overthinking the state and losing of determination. You must be determined, have hope and think of a better way to come out of the state. Poverty kills you if you don't have the ability to kill it it takes over you completely and let you see that all hopes are lost due to the fact that situations surrounding you are not helping matters. The society you live in doesn't want to associate with you and this give you no hope to live anymore. You must always learn to know that in all situations you go through in life, you need hope to survive.

Chapter 3

Causes of poverty

In the last chapter we can see the meaning and effects of what poverty can bring to you. Now, we want to see the numerous causes of poverty. What bring about poverty, why are people poor when the good God have all humans the ability to do all things in life. This will give us an eye opener to it

The causes of poverty are explained below

Unemployment:- This is one of the major causes of poverty. Not every one who are capable and qualified of a job are been given the job. Most people are not given jobs due to one thing or the other. That is why poverty came to existence. Jobs gives wages and salaries that make one have the ability to acquire all the necessity of life,but when the job is not given how do you expect them to achieve those things, gradually poverty sets in.

Bad mind set:- Some people are poor and unsuccessful as a result of bad mindset. They see all situations surrounding them that they cannot make it and at the end of the day they don't make it. Bad mindset needs to be killed if you want to be successful in life. The ability to kills this determines your level of growth in life. Bad mindset make you lose hope so quickly and make you never have the ability to achieve what you want to achieve. It makes you see blockage in every road and make you give up on everything.

Corruption:- Most people become poor due to corruption from prominent high people. Imagine a religious leader telling his member to sell all his investments and bring the money to the religious house that the God of the religion will bless him abundantly, how to you expect such a member to survive. Most of our leaders and high people are using power to cheat and do all manner of illegal things to their workers or citizens. Corruption is everywhere, from employers not paying employees their salaries or wages up to the ooun of government not making subsidiary payments on some items for the citizens. If we look at what is happening in our educational sector in Nigeria we will see that all our leaders are involved in corrupt works. Assu and other educational sectors are been owed money for years and our leaders keep begging them like they don't know what to do at the expense of students wasting time at home. This also make poverty rampant in our society today.

Laziness:- some people are just lazy and don't want to work. Laziness is the unwilling to work or not involving much energy or activity into something. This is another major cause of poverty. We see some people waking up and doing nothing with their live and expect something at the end of the day. Some are lazy to the extent of even getting up early in the morning to have their bath is a problem for them. This also bring about poverty.

Education:- Not acquiring knowledge make people poor also. The inability to think and create business idea even not been employed to a company can make one poor. That is why many developed and developing countries create platfrom to learn a technical work thereby giving knowledge on how to be a successful entrepreneur. Lacking of knowledge make one poor and make one unable to make success in this century.

Bad leadership:- most of the leaders put in post of power never uses the power in a right way they are supposed to use it. Most of the leaders think of a way to loot funds meant for people under them, they make life stressful for the others below them. They refuse to make necessary payments and these generate poverty among people under them.

Chapter 4

Reasons why people become poor

In this chapter I will be talking about why people become poor, reasons why people are poor, what make people become poor in respective of the job they are doing and so many questions. We need to know that we ourselves can have reasons why we go back to the state of being poor after overcoming the state, we see many rich people after some times they later become poor, why is it like that. What are the reasons for it.

The following are some reasons why people become poor.

Not investing :- most people are opportuned in thier life time to become very rich and wealthy but they become poor due to the fact that they don't invest or have any investment when the money goes. Investing of money keeps the money with you forever which is why we all support the saying that money is a bird when it comes try and find one business or investment to key it down in order not to fly away. Some people never invest and they spend the money stupidly. We see some people placed in great companies with better salaries but they never spend the money wisely, you see them clubbing and taking girls out on daily basis. No investment and at the end of the day when they are been laid off from the company they return to the state of being poor.

Life situations:- as the topic of this book implies poverty in respect to life, we can deduce that the topic talks about some life situation that can bring about poverty. Some life situations can be threatening that it will not only bring you down but tkae your life if not careful. Some of the life situations are

Sickness. This is one of the life threatening situations some one once asked me that why do people work and remain poor. This is one of the reply I have to him, sickness can either be curable or manageable. Most people we see today remains poor because of this. Sickness like Aids, Diabetes, Hypertension, Sickle cell anemia and many others are manageable but people that have them have high chances of returning to the point of being poor. Even Malaria in the sence of tbe cerebral malaria can even affect and make one return to being poor

Take for instance a person who is suffering from Hypertension and he is earning 250,000 in a month, has 3 kids and a wife and spends nothing less than 200,000 on the sickness. How do you expect him to cope without not become poor due to the responsibilities on him. Sickness affect both physical and financial state of a person and we must do everything to guide against it if we want to become rich and remains rich.

Being duped. This is, another state of being poor. Most times rich and influential people are been duped by investing in a frud and unclean business. They invest a huge amount of money into the business without proper investigation and they end up by being duped by the people that introduced the business to them. This situation can bring one to a poor state and even claim life if the victim if not been taken care of.

Death of a very important person in one's life can bring a person down. Many people roaming around on the street trying to survive the state of being poor are been affected by this situation. Many people placed their hope and trust on this important people just gas business associates father or any family member that is rich and ready to give an helping hand, managers, political leaders and many others. The victim put their hope in them due to the promises and step that is been taken by the people that promise them. This can cause emotional problems and bring one to the state of poverty.

Laziness :- we have talked about this in the last chapter but we are still bring it up because it serves as a "major supply" of poverty state most people do not put in their best in thier job and they loses the job and become poor, while some do not look for job at all and thereby plan to make poverty their best friend.

Enviness:- this is seen everywhere around us. We see people envying one another due to they progress, likeness, influence and success they make. Most boss don't want to their workers and employees to move forward and higher than them. This has been the philosophy of every managers and CEOs to their employees. Few of them do not support this and take part in it that is why we have the average man and some successful business owners in the world today.

False accusation:- many people are brought low due to false accusation. Many rich and successful people are been accused falsely of things they dont commit. Most of the time these leads to losing of jobs and many assets been owned by them. This criminal acts need to be put to stop in our society. Some people see this rich people as a threat to them and they plan treason against them. Some of them never see good things been done or good impact that are been carried out by the rich but the always see the negative sides of the rich and will always want to bring them down by using this criminal act.

Inflation of goods and services :- this is another reason why people become poor. When there is an inflation of goods there bring out the reduction of value of money. The rich that can afford buying a house at 15 million naria will not be able to afford it due to inflation. This is one of the major causes of poverty in respect to life. This make great impact in the country and on citizens. Regulations of this can reduce the rate at which people become poor.

War:- this is also another reason why people become poor. War demoralize the country economy and other sectors. Bombing, shooting and killing on both sides make rich people loses a lot of asset and become poor. The absence of peace and insecurity make the rich unable to do business that can enlarge him economically but make him run away from all his assets and make him poor.

Too much responsibilities:- this make one unable to save and invest money. We need to understand the benefits of family planning and self control. Some people are illiterate and always have the knowledge of having plenty wives and children is the best. Having too many responsibilities make you poor and this will also limit your abeto work hard, in the sense that no matter how hard you try you will not be able to meet up the needs of everyone present in your family, this will definitely demoralize you. Before going into having family and responsibilities, think of this questions

Am I fit to emback in this

Will I be able to cope if I do this

Will I achieve my dres if I do this

Can my success and this work together.

Most of these questions make you focused on where you ae going and how you will be able to manage your family and responsibilities.

Chapter 5

Overcoming poverty

In this chapter we will be talking about how to overcome poverty. What are the ways of overcoming poverty. Poverty is not a good state to be and the moment you have this at the back of your mind you have start to plan the way you can overcome poverty. I will be starting some ways you can take to overcome poverty.

Planning:- everything in this world needs planning. We all need to plan so as not to fail. Poverty looms over a person that refuse to plan his/her life. Coming up with a plan can help you overcome poverty and make you achieve great things in life.

Investing :- whenever you have any excess money on you always learn to invest in one business or the other. Although there are some guildlines I recommend before investing in a business and they are

Find out more about the business. Doing a thorough research and investigation about the business you want to invest your money on can put you on a safe hands from fraudsters.

Taking risk. There is no business that doesn't involve taking risk. This is one of the things you need to have in mind when investing in a business,you must ne ready to face the problem and success the business brings.

Have backups :- always have money to save before investing in a business because you will always need it if the business develop serious problems or if you want to bail out of the business and invest in another one.

Have a learning heart:- if we look at most of the successful people in this world, they don't just make it just like that but the learn to make it to where they are now. Most successful people take the lesson each business bring to them and make use of it to become successful in life.

These are the four main steps I can recommend when investing in a business.

Having good mindset :- change all negative thoughts, thinking and mindset you have. Learn to always encourage yourself and put away the bad mindset you have always been having. Good mindset let you see great opportunities and let you achieve great success so always, put that on your mind.

Understanding life situation :- every situation life put you is an avenue to learn and move on. Understanding every circumstances life put you make you know basic facts about life. Life will never support anyone to become rich or poor but your determination supports your choice when you have the ability to understand every life situation you will be able to unleash the capability in you to face the challenges and become a great person in life.

Hardwork:- no food for lazy man, that is all we use to say. You need to put this word to work in your life if you want to make it in life. Hardwork pushes your determination to make it in life and by doing it you will be pushing poverty away from your life.

Be Educated :- always try and be enlighten in all areas of your life. Keep learning is the key to success and you can make breakthrough by learning. Never remove the idea of going to any educational institution to learn because whey you stop learning, you are as good as a dead man. Improve yourself in all areas of life and be on the track of becoming successful.

Have savings:- this will enable you to strive in time of challenges and troubles. It make you have something you can fall back to in trials and tribulations. Always learn not to dleand too much money when you have a lot of it withib your capacity.

Making budget:- some people become poor due to the fact that they spend more money on useless things,this you need to cut. You need to learn how to make budget inorder to minimize the spending. Excess expenses on useless things make you not to have enough money to save thereby putting you on the track of poverty.

Chapter 6

Poverty and Society

Our society has we all know that it does not support poor people. The society embrace the rich and reject the poor people, but, is that what our society is supposed to do. Most of the time these poor people feels discouraged by seeing nobody to help them. Our society needs to help the poor and consider them as humans inorder to give them hope and make them have the initiative to overcome the state they are.

I have seen so many wrong things fine by the society we live in that are not good. Depriveing of justice and so many other things are been done to the poor due to the fact that they are powerless in tbe society. These facts has brought our so many vices in our society because the poor believes that becoming rich and having more powers and influence is what make them important in the society

Scam the rich

This has been one of the popular slogan among our youth and teenagers. Even the poor have joined the group that use this slogan. Most of them are frund and internet crimes. The youth are not ready to work again due to what the society is saying about the rich and poor, they now devise a way to earn money by doing illegal things to earn money. We need to end this among them and make them know that scamming the rich is not the only way to earn money but an act of criminal offense.

Crimes like armed robbery, kidnapping and internet frund come as a result of this slogan. Untill we are able to let our children know the fact about this slogan we Nigerians, will remain the most corrupt country among others. Self employed strategies can be impacted to them inorder to make theam avoid doing this criminal act.

Creating of more loan institutions and creating more jobs in the country can also help this. We all know that our country has fertile soil good for agriculture, what if our government create an initiative that supervise this and create more jobs in the country that all states of man can benefit from. Encouraging farmers and giving them some entitlement. Provision of loans and material to them can boost their moral, educating them about agric and also providing security for them can also help.

If we take a good look at what is happening in our country we will see that the rich has more power to most of these entitlement. The poor is left of the game and they have no choice but to follow what the society placed before them scam the rich.

Looking at whauiis happening at the north we can see that farmers are the main target of bandits. This will negatively decrease the availability of food and make us depend wholey on imported goods. The closing of the borders in 2018 up to when the border is been open currently in this year, we citizens suffer the impact of availability of food stuff like rice, beans and even garri. Insecurity in our society make both farmers and other self employed people close diem their business and look for another means of survival thereby following the corrupt youth in the slogan 'Scam the rich'. The impacts mostly on the average and the poor of the society and if care is not taken we will go to the stage whereby all poor and average people will think of no other option than this.

Justice

This is another word we need to look at. Justice is always biased when it comes in between the rich and the poor and the average man. The rich is given great and absolute justice even when wrong, the average struggle to get justice been done when right and tries to bypass the law when wrong but what happens to the poor he is given no opportunity to talk or even clears himself when right and he is been given judgment when wrong instantly.

We need to correct this in our society by telling both the rich and poor and average man that they are not above the law. Most of the evil things done in our country are always from the rich and 'all powerful' people but what happened, their names are been cleared when they offer some huge amount of money to the law enforcement agency.

Take a look at this, if some high people in the business world or political world commit an offense to the poor or average man what happens next? The poor or average people is been paid off and the case is killed immediately in order to prevent justice from taking it place. But if it happens the other way round, the rich man will ensure that the law takes it place just because of the money and influence he build for himself, this we need to fight in our society, we need to correct this before it get to the stage or will I say it has gotten to the stage that even both poor and average people can't be given justice in our country anymore.

Bad leadership

This is another thing that increase the level of poverty in our society. Most time we can see that most of our leaders never cared about our problems, what they think and care about is the power they weild and the money involved. The most important thing is that we should all know thrt being a good leader is having the ability to understand the problem and show care to your followers.

We must not let this way us down, most of our leaders, sorry to say this are not doing the right thing. We are complaining the the level of poverty is increasing daily while there are some bad leaders looting funds that are been needed to do good things in the country.

Justice is been biased when it come to politics and we keep hearing money vern looted by this people. Where are the agencies that need to fight this are where are the law enforcement responsible for this case but we can see them. All they do is to fight the struggling and the poor people by taking away the small they have from them. A good leader is not meant to enrich his pocket but he is meant to create great impact to his country. There are so many undone project in our country, so many undone promises and all we see is the people elected to power looting/embellizing the funds meant to fufil this promises and project. The heart of the citizens are not happy with this, when we take a look at what is happening in the educational sector, the issue with the FG and Assu that has been on ground since 2006,can you imagine?, this is the most worstest problem happening in this country. Education is the right if every citizen but when the country decides not to provide this what happens, the rate of illiteracy, poverty and evil vices increases in the society. So, I urge our leaders to change for the better if they want the society and the nation to be the best and to eradicate poverty.

Conclusion.

If we look at these three things that I have stated above in the article, we will be able to see this that this are most major things making poor people loses hope. We must learn to support each other either rich or poor, help each other either rich or poor just for the sake of humanity. Let justice and peace with unity rest among us all if we really want to end poverty. Discrimination will not help matter but only worseten it, we need to build a good society that all classes and state of human can live and enjoy.
