While DJ’s career had already taken off, his true “big break” came when he joined VEGA, a niche brand with a “hippie” image. Taking on the role of Director of Trade Marketing and Innovation, DJ saw an opportunity to rebrand the company for the mainstream.
The result was nothing short of remarkable. DJ and his team rebranded 174 SKUs, revamped the creative direction, and introduced innovative in-store programs at major retailers like Whole Foods and Sprouts. The “Fueled by Vega” smoothie-making bike—powered entirely by pedaling—was one of the standout elements of the campaign, creating an experience that was as fun as it was effective.
The success was evident. In just one year, sales at a Vancouver Whole Foods store skyrocketed from $350,000 to $1.5 million, a clear testament to the power of DJ’s marketing strategies.
