Starting May 1, 2025, all foreign visitors—regardless of nationality or visa status—must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online at least 72 hours before arrival. This digital form replaces the traditional paper TM6 arrival card and applies to travelers entering Thailand by air, land, or sea. Only those transiting without passing through immigration and individuals using a Border Pass are exempt.
TDAC Application Details:
Where to Apply: Online via the Thailand Immigration Bureau’s official website.
Information Required: Passport details, nationality, travel itinerary, accommodation information, and recent travel history for health declarations.
Fee: Currently, there is no fee for submitting the TDAC.
Purpose: The digital system aims to enhance security, streamline immigration processes, and support public health efforts.
🌍 Visa Exemptions and Extensions
Thailand has expanded its visa exemption scheme to include nationals from 93 countries and territories. Visitors under this scheme are allowed to stay for tourism purposes and short-term business engagements for up to 60 days, which can be extended for an additional 30 days at the Immigration Office.
🧳 Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)
Introduced in October 2024, the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is designed for foreigners wishing to stay or work in Thailand for extended periods. Key features include:
Duration: Up to 180 days, with the possibility of a 180-day extension.
Eligibility: Applicants must meet specific purposes, such as working remotely or participating in activities related to Thai culture (e.g., learning Muay Thai, Thai cooking classes, or joining cultural festivals).
Documents Required: Passport, proof of residence, and documentation demonstrating the purpose of stay.
🛑 Postponed Measures
The implementation of the 300-baht tourism tax and the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system have been delayed. The Thai government is focusing on the successful rollout of the TDAC before introducing these additional measures.
✅ Tips for Travelers
Complete the TDAC: Ensure you submit the TDAC online at least 72 hours before your arrival.
Stay Informed: Keep updated on any changes to entry requirements by visiting official Thai government websites.
Prepare Documents: Have your passport, travel itinerary, and accommodation details ready for the TDAC application.
For more detailed information, you can visit the official Thai Immigration Bureau website or consult with the nearest Thai embassy or consulate.
