The use of detox foot pads or detox patches claim to draw toxins out of the body are promoted by many product manufacturers, with dramatic improvements to health and well being helping to detoxify the body of toxins. So far so good, but does it really work?

Working with traditional Chinese foot reflexology principles, the use of detox foot pads it's professed, can help to remove toxins and flush out impurities, assisting the body's natural detoxification process during the night while you sleep.

Reflexology:

Just a word about reflexology, or zone therapy, which is the practice of massaging, squeezing, or pressing on parts or zones of the feet, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body and improving general health.

There is no broader explanation on how reflexology does or could work in practice; the one common denominating theme is the claim that areas or zones of the foot correspond to areas of the body and by manipulating these zones, one can improve one's health.

Detox Foot Pad ingredients:

Pads containing certain ingredients such as wood and bamboo vinegars, tourmaline gemstones, dextrin, chitosan among other ingredients, are placed on feet while sleeping and that allegedly draw out toxins from the body overnight. The amount of moisture or dirt that appears on the pad in the morning is supposed as proof that toxins have been removed.

There are different kinds of detox foot pads i.e. kinoki detox foot pads and several others, but it's more than likely that simply soaking your feet in warm water with either salt or Epsom Salt, which is magnesium sulfate or even just warm water for fifteen to twenty minutes each day, would give you the same, better or at least cheaper results.

Whether detox foot pads really give you a body detox overnight - remains to be seen - there is still a lot of debate about it and there doesn't seem to be any real, legitimate research done. Unfortunately, it does seem to be a product that has a lot of marketing behind it with seemingly no formal research - so it could be a sign that it's just smoke and mirrors.
