The Master Cleanse Fast, also known as the Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet is a type of body detoxification cleanse which has made its way to tv talk shows, celebrity interviews and in many natural health magazines. But is the master cleanse fast really safe? Can the master cleanse fast be dangerous? Below we will look at how and if the master cleanse can be dangerous and what exactly is the master cleanse fast.

Can the master cleanse fast be dangerous? The basic answer is yes. Fasting diets or any diet in general can be dangerous if not properly managed and when carelessly done. Some medical professionals feel that the master cleanse fast can be dangerous because it lacks protein, the basic building block of life. Those oppossed to this view disagree because of two basic factors: 1. As a society, we overly eat protein which can be toxic when in excess and 2: The master cleanse fast is only done for around ten days in which to expell the body of such overabundances. Both views have their have validity in that they are both are true statements in the eyes of medical professionals.

Another controversial aspect of the master cleanse is that on one side many people believe that our body, with good health, can properly detox ourselves without the need of a detox diet. The other side of the arguement is that we live in a world which is more toxic than the human body was originally intended for. Between pollution, food additives, artificial colors and flavors, and chemicals which we consume, the belief is that our body can keep up with this kind of consistent toxification. Again, both statements are very arguable as our bodies are extremely resilient and good health plays a crucial factor in the detoxification process of the body. On the other side of the spectrum, we are not nearly as resilent as cockroaches and world-wide we consume a plethora of toxic substances in which our bodies were never meant to take in.

Although fasting has been done for years for numerous reasons including detoxification, religious and spiritual beliefs, insight and various other reasons over the vast spanse of time, fasting if not done properly and with care can be extremely detrimental to a persons health and can result in the body trying to consume itself. Fortunately, in the master cleanse diet, you still consume calories and some natural nutrition, so it is not a complete fast, it just lacks protein.

Those for the master cleanse fast feel that it helps them in the following ways: Detoxification of the blood, liver and throughout the body, identification of food allergies, weight loss, mental clairity, spiritual awakening, diminishing addictions (ie: food, drug, alcohol, nicotene), increased sexual vigor, increased energy, increased vitality. While others believe the master cleanse fast to be simply "Snake Oil" and the master cleanse fast can be dangerous to the body.
