If your glands are producing too much oil that you will have oily skin and you will find that there is a high level of sebum on the surface of your skin on a constant basis. This excess production of oil makes the clogging of pores become very simple, and if this does happen with the combination of bacteria and dead skin cells, then a outbreak of spots, acne and other blemishes is quite possible.
Many people that their looks are affected by having oily skin, it makes their skin shine, it looks dull and it also attracts dirt much more easily from the environment.
There are several factors that can accumulate towards the development of oily skin, and the most common reasons are hormone levels, a poor diet, cheap cosmetics that rely on chemicals, medications and also to some extent the weather.
But there needs to be a fine balance when it comes to treating oily skin and this is why treating oily skin can be actually quite difficult. The trick is to use products or to have a regime that will eliminate excess levels of oils without making the skin become dry, and so causing the skin to go from one extreme to another.
There are some essential tips that you need to adopt in order to help treat your dry skin such as using lukewarm to cool water to wash your skin. This is essential as you want to do enough to remove the excess oils, but not over do it so the skin becomes dry. If the skin becomes dry, then the glands within the skin are going to become over active and produce more oil.
It is also important that you use a gentle face wash, and in fact you are probably better off not washing a face wash, so as to avoid using water and getting the temperature wrong. Instead using a cleansing lotion and toner instead. Simply apply the cleanser to some cotton wool and then wipe your face and neck. This will help to cleanse your skin and remove any dirt and grime. Then finish off with a toner, to make your skin feel fresh.
Wearing makeup can be problematic if you have oily skin and the best thing that you can do is to actually not wear any make up. If make up is needed you should avoid make up products that are oil based and choose items that are water based instead. But before you do apply any make up it is important to make sure that your skin is clean, and always remember to remove any make up before you go to bed.
Another simple trick that you can easily action if you have oily skin, is to use clean tissues to blot away any excess oil that builds up during the day. This will keep the skin looking fresh and also help prevent the skin from attracting any dirt and bacteria.
As well as the creams and lotions that you can buy you also need to find time to relax as there is a direct link between stress levels and having oily skin. Stress causes the release of a hormone called androgens, and these cause the sebaceous glands to become even more active when stressed. So it is important to find time to relax and this can be done by taking a quick walk or trying yoga.
