Generic Lexapro is an anti-depressant medication. Depression can cause feeling of hopelessness in people suffering from it. Someone experiencing depression feels as if he is not worthy of anything and gradually loses interest in all day to day activities like work, family, friends etc.
Although there can be number of factors for this cause of depression, some of the common factors are loss of work, fatal injury or illness, divorce, loss of dear one, huge loss in business. The root cause of depression starts from your brain, so even small thing that hits you emotionally can cause depression, for example: being ragged in school can possibly be a cause of depression.

If you persist with the medication, depression can be completely treated. Since, depression is associated with emotional nature of human brain. It is said that depression can be best treated with the combination of medicine and counseling. Visiting a psychiatrist or speaking with your friends, closed ones will be beneficial along with antidepressant medications.
It is recommended that you should not stop your medication once you start feeling better, unless advised by your doctor. As advised by your doctor, you should take your medication regularly everyday. There is a strong possibility that you might get into that phase of depression, if you suddenly stop taking your medication. Such effects are called withdrawal symptoms. You should not consume any antidepressant medication without your doctor's prescription. Antidepressant medications are very powerful drugs, if taken carelessly can have some serious side effects.
What is Generic Lexapro? As said earlier, Generic Lexapro is an antidepressant medication. The word generic means, it is made of the same chemical composition, strength, safety measures and meets the same pharmacopoeial standard of preparation as its innovator brand. Generic medicines are cheaper than their brand name counterpart.
What does Generic Lexapro do? It works by increasing the serotonin level in the blood, which is an important chemical messenger in the brain. If your depression occurs frequently, say twice a week and you experience symptoms like low mood, loss of weight and appetite, sleepless nights, loss of interest in day to day activities or thoughts of suicide etc then check with your doctor immediately. There is very strong possibility that you are suffering from major depression.
