To succeed in this business, any business for that matter

takes a certain mindset. All kinds of mindsets really. And

you know that right?

It takes vision, passion, faith, courage. All that stuff

that we all, already know. Us mlm people. We sure is a smart

bunch, huh?

But one thing we do not always know is who our customers are.

Like who is in our target market. Or more importantly, who

will actually give us money.

Here's what I mean. When I joined opportunity "X" and got my

first autoship order one of the products was a bar of soap.

Yippee. Not. Granted, it did smell good. But at $5.95 retail,

who would buy it?

By nature I am cheap. I was raised that way and it is still

a hard habit to break. When I bought soap I wanted three

bars for 97 cents.

So this $5.95 bar of soap wasn't something I wanted. Or

something I thought anyone else wanted. So it just stayed

in the package.

Now I know you don't really care about my soap. Or my shower

either I hope. But what is important is what I discovered. I

realized something I should have already known.

My first and foremost intent with my mlm business is to sell

something. That's because I want to get paid. Today. And I

want others to get paid today. Not next month. That is a

must.

Now wouldn't you agree that in order to sell something it is

a good idea to know what the heck it is you are selling?

Me too. That's why I finally got around to trying this new

brand of soap. To get to know about it personally so I could

better retail it.

Well, the soap is great. It smells great, it cleans great.

And it beats my old cheap stuff hands down, no competition.

But Big deal. This article isn't about soap. Soap is not

even my main product.

This article is about having, and selling, a top quality

product. Any product. I know that I have one. And I'm sure

your mlm business provides you with a top quality product as

well.

What I realized is this. Our products are not for cheap

minded people. They are designed for people who want the

finer things in life. People who can afford these luxuries.

Or at least pretend they can.

They don't drive a Dodge Caravan. They drive the Town and

Country. Their version of an SUV is a Cadillac Escalade.

They buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Because they can afford to.

Just like I was wrongly thinking no one would buy my soap, I

often hear other mlm distributors say no one will buy their

products. That's not true. Your neighbors may not. Your

family may not. But some people, somewhere, are out there

wanting what you sell.

Knowing this is a mindset. It's a belief. And that's where

it all starts. A simple formula really.

You are in your mlm business to make a profit. To profit you

need to sell something. To sell anything, you need to market

to the people that are already willing and able to buy what

you sell.

And to market your products or business opportunity you

first have to believe there are people that want what you

have so you can find them.

If you don't believe people want what you have you will

never be able to find them. You will not be able to market

to them. You won't be able to sell anything, so you won't be

able to make a profit.

If you can't make a profit, why would you be in business?

Jeff Neil is a tattooed, bald headed ex-cop who sells candles in his spare time. But you don't care about that. What you might care about is what your sponsor was never told about mlm and how much that will cost you. Find out at his mlm blog http://4mlm.com
