If you are on a weight loss programme there may be certain areas you might want to concentrate on if fat loss is proving to be very stubborn in those areas. The thighs are one area where it can be difficult to lose fat from. Its more difficult to lose fat from your thighs – the legs contain the largest muscles in the body and are that more difficult to work on. Even bodybuilders tend to neglect their legs in favour of the top half of their bodies when trying to build muscle because legs are so much more difficult to work on and see results. It takes a lot more effort. For women its even more difficult if they have cellulite.

So how can you get slimmer thighs? Well through exercises and\ ne of the best exercises you can do to get slimmer thighs are squats. There are various forms of squats that you can do with and without equipment. You don't even need to go to a gym if you don’t want to - just do them at home.

Stand with your feet hip width apart and lower down as much as you comfortably can keeping your head upright eyes front., hold it for a few seconds then return to your starting position. Repeat for 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps of it that's too much then just decrease the reps. You can use the back of a chair to balance yourself - just hold onto the back of it as you lower yourself down. Alternatively you could use weight (barbells or dumbells) to add more intensity but its probably best no to do this straight away. Instead get used to to the movement particularly if you aren’t used to physical exercise. What you want to achieve is a burning sensation to burn the fat away and if done effectively you will feel this on the outer thighs. Martial artists often do something called a riding/horse stance which is similar to squats but you hold yourself in the position for an extended period of time and i can personally attest to the burning effect it has on the legs.

A very recent activity that more women are considering to reduce thigh size is jogging. Its a very common activity but only recently has it become popular as a means to tone the thighs and even the overall body. I would strongly suggest you jog on grass and not the sidewalk/roads because that will increase the impact on your knees and could possibly give you knee problems.

Exercise stimulates blood flow to the thighs and a better blood supply will help to remove excess fluid. And as you lose fat in your hips and thighs, there will be less of it to press against your connective tissue to cause cellulite.
