A lot of people over the years have become convinced that distilled water is by far healthier for you to drink than the tap water that you have at home. Everyone knows about the dangers that you face when you drink ordinary tap water, but few people seem to realize the extent of the risk that they are taking. Would it really be a better idea to switch to water that has undergone the distillation process to make it cleaner?

It is understandable to me why people would consider distilled water to be better for you than water from a faucet, because it has undergone the oldest purification process that is known to man. However when the practice first began they didn’t have to try to remove the types of contaminants present in the water that we have today. It was far easier to get the water clean at that time.

Chemicals in Tap Water and Distilled Water?

What we are facing today with our tap water is that our reservoirs have become polluted with a mixture of all or most of the 80,000 industrial chemicals that we use every day to make our lives easier. Most of these chemicals pose at least some toxic threat to our systems, but the part that is really scary is that 2,100 of these chemicals are actually known to cause cancer in humans.

The problem with thinking that distilled water is going to be any better for you than water from your faucet is that while the water is advertised as having been purified in truth what you are drinking is still contaminated water. You have to understand how the distillation process works in order to understand why it is not a thorough method of purification.

How Distilling Water Works

Tap water is being poured into a large vat in which the temperature is raised to boiling. The steam that is formed is transferred through a line that connects to another adjacent tank where the steam is them cooled, and it assumes its natural form. The problem lies in the fact that most of the chemicals in the water vaporize much more quickly than the water itself so their vapors are the first ones into the second tank.

Clean Water Solution

This fact makes distilled water nearly as contaminated as the water in coming through your faucet. What you really need to do to be absolutely assured that the water that you are drinking is pure is purchase and install a home water purification system on your faucet at home. With the right combination of filters inside it will remove any danger posed from the chemicals in our water supply.

What is the Best Water Filter Type

A water purification system that features both an activated granular carbon filter and a multi media block will eliminate 99% of the chemicals present in your tap water. You should look for a unit that also contains a sub micron filter for parasites, and an ion exchange for removing toxic metal traces.

A high quality home purification system will give you all of the security that distilled water cannot. For more detailed information please see my website. Thanks, Larry L. Taylor
