GALACTICA.TV is the Battlestar Galactica site that interviews both the cast in front of and the crew behind the cameras of all Battlestar Galactica TV series! New and interesting interviews with cast and crew of both the original and re-imagined Battlestar Galactica TV series are presented in a monthly online magazine to give unique insight in all aspects of the series from various points of view.
In 2003, the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica series was re-imagined, in the year of its 25th anniversary. At this time the original series still had one of the largest fan following of any TV series ever made. Marcel Damen and Mike Egnor were among this large Battlestar Galactica fan following who still cherished the series and its heroes after three decades. That same year the complete DVD set of the original Battlestar Galactica series was finally brought out and this set them off to track down their childhood heroes.
Only one year later they tracked down over 150 of the original Battlestar Galactica series cast and crew, and got letters with new stories about the show, as well as signed photos in the mail almost daily. Their online signature collections were quickly noticed by some convention organizers and before they knew it, they were helping to organize two of the largest Battlestar Galactica cast reunions ever assembled in Europe. It was this experience and love of the show that also set them off to organize the 30th anniversary of the Battlestar Galactica series in 2008, in collaboration with the Battlestar Fan Club. It brought fans, cast, and crew together on a special four day cruise, called Galacticruise. On the cruise fans enjoyed the combination of a holiday and a Battlestar Galactica convention.
In addition to this they also greatly enjoyed the storylines and episodes of the new re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series that was then currently on TV, and became huge fans of that show as well. Through their contacts they also promoted the actors of the new series on conventions around the globe. At the conventions their relationships with the cast and crew were tightened, friendships were born, and soon they even found themselves building websites for several of the original and re-imagined Battlestar Galactica main cast. At the same time they had also been interviewing Battlestar Galactica cast and crew and got interesting, never heard from before stories. For many of the original cast and crew of the series, it was the first time that they had ever been interviewed since the show aired 30 years prior. These stories provided the fans with insights and stories of the show that had never been heard of before.
It set them off to create "GALACTICA.TV - the Battlestar Galactica site that focuses on the cast in front of and the crew behind the camera of all Battlestar Galactica TV series". With the help of dozens of people working on the website, including guest columnists, proofreaders, guest interviewers, etc., GALACTICA.TV has grown to where it is today. The site is an enormous success, and currently about 50,000 fans per month find their way to the GALACTICA.TV website for their monthly shot of new Battlestar Galactica interviews. In addition to interviews, GALACTICA.TV is also building a database of profile pages to include every cast and crew member who has ever worked on any of the Battlestar Galactica series, and also share interesting Battlestar Galactica background stories and tidbits.
