Letterpress printing is a technique that has been in use in the Western countries since the fifteenth century, it is been in use by Johannes Gutenberg for the manufacture of the Bible. However there has been a debate over the fact that the letterpress printing has been developed in the East or the West, however this debate was carried forward because of a common reason because the Chinese texts were printed with similar texts along with the similar method so there existed a long discussion on the fact that the Letterpress printing was invented in the East, however it is important to note the fact that the Chinese invented the technology before the publication of the Guttenberg Bible.
The Letterpress printing has remained as one of the most common method for printing and distributing the printed material and the information until the twentieth century, it was the starting when the offset printing was developed. However it is important to note the fact that the letterpress printing was one of the most important technological innovations that made the printing materials available to a wider range of people at a time. This method has been the most successful industry and it is one of the best methods that can be used by anyone.
The letterpress printing involves the process of locking a movable type of bed of press and then inking the bed followed by rolling and even pressing the paper against the ink so as to form an impression. However it is important to note the fact that the letterpress and its predecessors have been in and around for the past hundred years with both of the east and the western world making the prints from wooden blocks as well as the carved engravings that also provided the results but almost at a situation which is not much used now. However it is important to note the fact that Gutenberg was very much creative in the installation of the movable type which could be reset as well as reused.
However it is important to note the fact that the revolutionized printing had almost changed the phase in which the things were printed because it was not a phase wherein each and every page of a book has different carved wooden blocks or engravings. Letterpress printing is one of the methods that have completely revolutionized the printing industry and even the way in which the printing has been carried on. A fast typesetter has the capability of printing a page in just few minute. The basic parts of a letterpress include the most basic element of a press bed where the type has been set up as prescribed, rollers for ink and a tympan, which is nothing but a tightly stretched drum or a disc wherein a paper is mounted. Some presses roll the tympan across the bed of the press to print while on the other hand there are some presses that press a flat a tympan against the bed for an impression. When you are intending to have multiple presses it is important to note that the press must pass multiple colors, this will not be the scenario incase the printer uses a split fountain technique wherein the several colors of the ink are spread on the rollers.
