Why is dieting so difficult for most of us? Is it willpower, advertising, fast food, unrealistic societal expectations? Yes on all counts. But what really hurts a dieter's chances more than any other factor is cheating, you heard me cheating. Those little bumps and hiccups you experience on your way to the salad bar, you know the ones labeled snickers or double stuffed oreos etc.

Okay, okay so we are weak, we admit it. What do we do about it? It's not like we can ignore the little chocolate loving monkey hanging on our back (more like our bellies and thighs) and be good. That sounds like we'd have to give something up to get something right? That can't be. I say eat chocolate and double stuffs until you feel sick from the sugar buzz but…..

You knew there had to be a "but" right? Eat chocolate but in moderation and (this is a big and) only on cheat day. What, huh? Cheat day? I can leave my spouse and carouse around for a whole day? NO! You'll want to hang on to that significant other so they can show off the soon to be skinnier version of you to their friends. Cheat day refers to dieting technique I learned from a book called The Day Off Diet, cool eh? Essentially you eat healthy, filling meals for 6 days and on the 7th party like it's 1999..wait that's a little dated how about party like a rock star?

Eat whatever and wherever you like on cheat day. You can drink alcohol and powerslam doughnuts if you like. You can mainline chocolate cake and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups all day long if the mood strikes you. Seriously, you've earned it. Genius right? It gets so much better but I really can't reveal more than this, the publisher would kick my butt so you're gonna have to take my word for it that this diet is for real and it works.

Finally a diet that encourages cheating. I'm living proof it works, without the cheat day I don't think I would have lost that 15 pounds I've had hanging around for the last 10 years. Seriously, if you hate diets and hate feeling deprived…jump on board. I did and I ain't gonna look back, unless you're holding a pack of double stuffed.
