If you want to use your old photographs for postcard printing then you are in the right place. In this simple guide, we will show you how to create cheap postcards using your old photographs or images. Just follow the seven steps below precisely and you should have those nice custom made photograph designs ready for postcard printing.
- Scan in high resolution.
Of course the first step in using your photographs for postcard printing is to digitize it as an image. You will need a scanner for this step. Just scan your images as usual using the software provided by your scanner. Try to adjust the settings so that you are scanning in the best possible resolution so that the picture won't get blurry once your reprint it for the postcard. If you do not have a scanner though, you can just go to your local cyber cafe or technology boutique and have your images scanned for a fee.
- Correct and Enhance.
Once you get your digital images from the photographs it would be best to correct and enhance it. Using an image editing software like Adobe Photoshop, you can try erasing or replacing any kind of specs, errors and holes in the image of your photograph. You can also enhance the images by improving the colors, brightness and contrast of the pictures to make the image look new and more vibrant. You can also try removing any kind of undesirable element to the picture such as a border, a misplaced person or thing, or even pimples and other issues on people’s faces. By the end of this process you should get a picture that is pretty good and well worth printing on postcards.
- Place postcard messages to a blank template.
Next once you are finished with your image enhancements you can now place the postcard image in a postcard template. Blank postcard templates are basically files that are already set with the layout of a typical postcard. It uses standard dimensions of a postcard and it has some guidelines on where most postcard elements are regularly placed. You can download a lot of blank postcard templates over the Internet all for free. Once you have what you need, you simply need to copy and then paste your photograph image to the template itself. Try to do this within the environment of your image editing software as well.
- Resize the image to postcard specifications.
Once your image is inside the template, more likely than not, you will need to resize it to fit standard postcard dimensions. Simply resize the image using your application’s resize tool and fit it in the right layout for a postcard.
- Review for finalization.
Once your postcard cover is done, take a moment and try to review your work. See if your postcard cover looks okay and determine if there are still ample spaces at the back for personal messages and postage stamps. Check all your images if they look right, and check the spelling and grammar of your text as well.
- Send to a postcard printing service.
With your design ready, all that is left is to send your postcard designs to the printer so that they are produced professionally. You can find a lot of high quality professional printers online that can create and deliver your custom postcards easily. All you have to do is pay them and send them your designs. In a day or so, you should get your postcards delivered at your house.
- Receive your postcards.
Finally, once done, all that is left is to wait for your postcards to arrive. When it does, you should get a nice professional looking postcard with your old photograph or image printed on its cover. It is going to be the perfect gift for your friends and family, or it can also be used for business if that is what the image was for.
I hope you learned something valuable with these steps. Doing this is pretty straightforward and as long as you are willing to learn, it should not be very hard for you.
