A freelance job will offer no benefits such as 401K or insurance plans. You will not have workers comp or pay into social security. You are responsible for your own benefits as well as your own taxes. Some companies will require you send them a W-9 and will submit a 1099 at the end of the year to you and the IRS. It is your responsibility to report your earnings to the government and keep track of any expenses you may have incurred.
