Internet marketing is one of the keys to achieving success on the web. Internet marketing isn’t nearly as hard as it seems once you get the hang of it. Every website has its own internet marketing profile; nevertheless, we can split internet marketing into two broad categories - Short Term and Long term internet marketing. Short term marketing will more or less involve paying money for traffic - the long term strategy involves gradually shifting from this phase to a
totally free, self-sufficient internet profile which will guide traffic to your website. The first and most efficient short term marketing strategy is pay-per-click marketing campaigns. A PPC campaign simply involves paying money to list your ads in search results. That is, you open an account with the PPCs, make a list of keywords and create advertisements for those keywords. The two most result-oriented PPC platforms are Google Adwords and Overture. Both Google and Overture have their own benefits. Google will send extra web traffic to your site than Overture.
If Google is better, why turn to Overture? In many ways, Overture has significant advantages over Google Adwords. Ad sizes are considerably larger in Overture. To effectively run a PPC campaign, you must be able to get the maximum possible out of your money. One strategy for doing this is to direct your traffic by including your website description when you advertise. PPC advertising is a great short term marketing strategy for a plethora of causes. Firstly, the advertising gets traffic to your site immediately. Secondly, it allows you to test the ability of your
site to convert traffic into dollars. If your conversion rate is less, you can edit the site and get immediate feedback. Once your site is up and running, the next thing to do is get immediate traffic through pay-per-click search engine marketing. Although it requires patience, you should also be focusing on SEO as a long term strategy. Search engine optimization, or SEO as it is widely known, is the perfect long term Internet marketing strategy. SEO simply refers to editing your site to make sure your website appears high in non-paid search results like Google, Yahoo and MSN. The reason SEO is considered a long term strategy is because it takes a long period of time to achieve success. It can take form 6 months to a few years. There are three search engines that take the cake when it comes to SEO – Google, Yahoo and MSN. The others simply don’t have enough traffic to make them worth pursuing. There are four keys to SEO: First, you must find out the amount of traffic various keywords are getting. Second, you must modify your site to include the exact same keywords phrases in the meta tagging and text. Third, you must add content to your site. Finally, you must exchange links with other websites that have content similar to your site. That's all there is to internet marketing - in a nutshell! You also need a lot of patience - patience balances feelings of frustration which you are sure to have a lot of. If you can stick with SEO, this long term marketing strategy always pays off.
