Most of Us Have been at that place in the past. We decide that it would be fun to getaway and spend 4 fun-filled days and 3 indulgent nights in a holiday hot-spot at the low, small price of $45. I mean, really, who can beat that price? Some of us end up buying a timeshare while we're already on holiday! Free tickets for the whole family and all that is required is a 90-minute tour of a newly constructed resort and, naturally, there is no purchase required. So, let's get in to the top ten reasons to not purchase timeshares?

  1. Monetary Timeshares are expensive! Be careful not to be tricked into believing that you are saving money by buying, which will allow you to carry on the yearly family holiday. It requires forever to realise any type of savings. Expending thousands of dollars is not in the books for most of us during these economic times. Don't forget that there are always food, entertainment and traveling expenses!

  2. Fees Once Again, with the money! On top of the monthly payments, there are hundreds of dollars in maintenance fees that have to be payed up every single year. That fact is barely discussed at original presentation! These fees almost always go up each year, as well. Retain that money and spend it when and where you choose.

  3. You Lose Vacation Flexibility Typically, there is, one week per year that is designated to you for your "main" holiday spot. What steps do you take if the family can't go on the 10th week next year? Well, the alternatives are few. You can choose not to go, try to trade it or you can attempt to gift the week to another family member, for a fee, of course!

  4. Advance Notification Some timeshares allow you to select from many another destinations, but you must reserve a year in advance! Many people don't even plan their wedding day a year beforehand and God only gives us 9 months notice to plan for the birth ofbabies!

  5. Not an investment Timeshares are oftentimes sold under the pretense that they are "investment" properties. A home is an investment; real estate is expected to go up in value. Try selling your timeshare and you'll quickly discover that it is not an investment. I don't know of anyone who has even recovered their initial purchase price. Although disheartening, timeshare are virtually always sold at a loss.

  6. Financing Very few people can afford to pay cash when purchasing a timeshare, so the majority of the purchase price must be financed at a higher rate of interest. This is not a sound financial decision; simply ask Suze Orman or Dave Ramsey!

  7. Few Lodging Selections It looks, at first glance, that there are many options when choosing a property to vacation. But, the reality is that there are a very few in every location.

  8. Confusing Many owners find it difficult to understand the points systems and the language is usually really obscure or overly complicated which makes preparation a time consuming and daunting process.

  9. Reduced Appeal As timeshares get more and more expensive, new hotels and resorts will be a more appealing option. The timeshare will get old and not hold the same appeal that it presently does.

  10. Don't hang up! Have your calendar and pertinent family members are at the table with you when you make the call to reserve a week. If you get off the phone to confirm the dates with other family members, it's likely that the week will not be available any longer.

Timeshare alternatives are everywhere, and you don't have to look that hard.On the internet, you will find many locations to travel to that are nearby and are less pricey. Why not give camping a chance, it's the new trend
