I'm always looking to provide my readers with the most up-to-date and interesting methods for running a work from home business. I like to try and provide information on a wide range of home based business opportunities, but by far the most commonly asked question that hits my inbox is; "What's the number 1 method for making money online?"

Truth be told, it's a question that really doesn't have a correct answer. Different methods will be effective for varying reasons across a range of entrepreneurs both male and female in locations around the world.

So, I've decided that it would be better to ask a cross-section of my subscribers what they have found to be their most successful methods. These are the Work From Home Top 6 ways to make money online:

6: Text Links

Page Rank is the term given to where your site appears in search results when web surfers type keywords relating to your line of business into their search query. The main aim of any website is to appear at the top (page 1) of the search listings. After you've had your site up and running for a period of time with good quality, regularly updated content, you'll start to see yourself receiving a high page rank in the popular search engines such as Google. Once you're receiving a high placed page rank, you may be able to sell textlinks within your own site to other website owners. Other site owners who, for whatever reason, haven't been able to gain a good page rank, may be willing to pay you to have a link to their site listed on your home page. A word of warning: linking from your site to other sites NOT specifically relating to your line of business can actually cause you to LOSE page rank for your own site.

5: Get Affiliates / Joint Venture Partners to sell your product(s) for you

If you have a product to sell, one of the best ways of making & increasing sales is to get other people to help you sell it. If you've developed a product that can be sold online (ie; digitally downloadable by your customers), the best places to get started selling are Clickbank.com and CommissionJunction.com.

Anyone in business needs to keep a record of their customers. Running a work from home business online you'll need to have capability on your site / blog to capture the details of your visitors. This list of customers and subscribers can become invaluable to you in terms of finding joint venture partners. There is always likely to be someone on your list who has a list of their own and will be willing to email their subcribers on your behalf to help sell your product for a share of any profits you make.

4: Google Adsense

Any website or blog has the opportunity to make some "easy money" by allowing Google to place ads in the side bars of the web pages. Anyone visiting your site who sees one of these ads and is interested enough to click on a link will generate revenue for you. You'll be paid a small commission by the Google Adsense network for generating traffic through to the advertiser's offer.

3: eBay

If you've been anywhere near a computer with internet access sometime over the past 10 years, you will have heard about eBay. The online auction megasite has made millions for people the world over. Where ClickBank and Commission Junction provide a service for entrepreneurs selling digitally downloadable products, eBay provides the platform for people selling so-called 'physical' items. Whether you have household items you no longer need, or perhaps you're a savvy collector looking to make a profit buying and selling to other collectors, eBay is the place to go and get started selling your products online.

2: Affiliate Marketing

If you don't have your own product to sell and eBay isn't an option for you, selling other people's products is a great way to make money online. As a member of sites such as ClickBank, you can earn sale commissions as high as 75%. Learning how to become a successful affiliate marketer isn't difficult and there are many sites where the 'newbie' can follow interesting and easy to understand courses on how to get set up and achieving success in a relatively short amount of time.

1: Sell your own products

This is by far the best way to make the most money online. By creating and selling your own product(s) you keep 100% of all sales. As an "expert", you also generate a strong following of customers who will listen to your recommendations of other people's products as well, thus generating further income as a successful affiliate.

Obviously, not all of us have the technical know-how, time or money to be able to research, develop and produce our own products. Have no fear! There are plenty of people out there who are more than willing to create a product for you (at a price), and then allow you to put your name to it and rake in all the profits. If you want to go down this path and outsource some product creation, sites such as eLance.com and guru.com are great places to try.

So, there you go. There's no right or wrong answer for what is the best way to make money online. The best thing you can do is try the ones that interest you and that you feel you're most knowledgable about. Follow that with the ones in which you feel you can afford to invest a little more time (and money) learning.

Here's to your success!
