How To Recession-Proof Your Life

It's no secret that business is down, unemployment is at all time highs,  in-store traffic has slowed to a snail's pace and retailers are losing millions and millions of dollars in sales each month.  In other words, we're in the middle of a Recession.

Every day I hear of more layoffs or businesses going under. It makes me sad to know that thousands of families all across the country are having their lives turned upside down. Out of work and with very little training what are these people supposed to do?

Whether your nearing retirement or just starting out in the working place, this recession is affecting most everyone. The reason I say most everyone is that for a select few, we are living a Recession-Proof life.

What do I mean by that? Well, did you know that in spite of these market conditions, online businesses and e-tailers have actually increased their sales?   We're not talking about just surviving the current economy but, actually thriving in it!  How are these businesses prospering at such terrific levels of success you ask...?

They have Recession-proofed their life!

In order for your to fully understand what I mean by this you have to understand the world's current landscape. In the 19th and early 20th century we were still living in the Industrial Age and workers where compensated based on their skill in a certain trade. The better you were at a given trade the more money you made.

In order for companies to keep you around, they would offer several benefits to ensure your loyalty. They offered anything from pension plans to health benefits, etc. With a pension plan your company would pay you, even if you were no longer working for them, for as long as you were alive.

So the goals during the industrial age were to go to school, get an education and then get a "good" job with a company that would pay for your life until you were gone or in other words a Pension Plan.

As the rest of the world caught up to the industrial revolution that had happened in the US, they were able to reproduce the same work at a much lower cost. Therefore, companies started moving their manufacturing to these lower cost countries.

With the launch of the World Wide Web and regular commerce turning to e-commerce the Information Age was born. Today, an employee is valued for the information they possess not their trade.

Companies realized that pension plans were too expensive and therefore no longer offered pension plans. To help employees feel comfortable, programs like the 401k were set up. Now, you as an employee would set up a plan to pay for your life after you retired. We've all seen how successful these programs have been, in 2008 alone I lost over 41% of what I had in my 401k.

What are we to do then? If our companies aren't going to take care of us and our 401k's and other such investments are going down the drain, where do we turn...

The Internet

Why is the Internet so promising, well for one thing, in a "recession" where the rest of the world's markets are in a decline, sales on the Internet are projected to grow over 130 billion over the next four years.

Why the Internet is the Key to living a Recession-Proof Life

Once again in order to understand this you have to remember some key facts:

  • There's no such thing as employer loyalty anymore - they look at employees as a necessary evil, not as a long-term asset

  • You're on your own to provide security and wealth for your family

  • Look to others for help, but don't rely on anyone but yourself

  • Develop one or more additional sources of income besides your current job

  • Ideally, look for ways to multiply your efforts (don't just trade time for money)

  • Find a market that will continue growing no matter what the economy is

So as you look at these statements above you'll see that they all have one thing in common, they are all talking about the Internet. Let's take a look:

There's no such thing as employer loyalty anymore - they look at employees as a necessary evil, not as a long-term asset

With the dawn of the Information Age, employer loyalty went out the door. Understand that I am not saying that there aren't companies that take care of their employees. What I am saying is that Tenure means nothing anymore. If I as a business owner have to make a decision on which employee I had to let go and the choices where, someone who has been with the company for 15 years but only specializes in one area or a new college graduate that would bring a variety of skill sets to the table, I believe the choice is obvious.

You're on your own to provide security and wealth for your family

With pension plans extinct and 401k's a bust, you and you alone will have to create the security and wealth for your family, because if you don't no one will. Since we know that pensions are gone by the wayside, let me help you understand why 401k's are not where you want to put your money.

I am sure that as many of your look at your 401k statements you will see similar scenarios as the one I shared with you earlier, you've actually lost money. So, let me ask you this, what can you do to guarantee you make money next year on your 401k? The answer is nothing; because your 401k is 9 times out of 10 invested in the stock market you have no control.

What I mean by that is, if you own shares of Apple or IBM, what can you personally do to guarantee that the stock goes up; nothing.

Now, on the flip side, what if you owned a very successful Internet Business, what can you personally do this next year to guarantee that your success increase. The answer is anything you want, because the business is yours. You could raise the price of the products, you could add new products to sell, you could increase your marketing spend in order to attract new customers.

The difference is control, you must, in order to recession-proof your life control your own future.

Look to others for help, but don't rely on anyone but yourself

When these types of economic conditions exists and business owners and entrepreneurs are unsure of their futures they usually turn to the professionals, they turn to a reliable adviser, they turn to a trusted source for direction.

The key with advisers, however, is to seek out advisers that will teach you sound principles that will work during a recession or during prosperity. Too often you will find companies that see a "recession" and will swoop in with some sort of get rich quick scheme. They know you are feeling vulnerable because of the uncertain times and are looking to prey on innocent victims.

You need a trusted adviser that will teach you principles and then provide you the support to achieve your dreams. I have been teaching its merchants sound Internet Business principles for over 8 years and have helped thousands of people just like you Learn the Secrets to Recession Proof their Life. Their principles have help thousands of people achieve their financial goals, no matter the circumstances.

Develop one or more additional sources of income besides your current job

Some of the most wealthy people in the world will tell you that they do not earn all of their income from one source. Whether it's a Real Estate investor with multiple properties or a Internet Entrepreneur with multiple web sites, the idea's the same.

This step is vital to living a recession-proof life. You must have multiple streams of income so that you are prepared for anything that might come. If your goal is to eventually leave your job and start living a life without boundaries, then this step is also key.

I am not telling you to quit your job tomorrow, in fact, I am saying the complete opposite. Stick with your job and start a Internet company part-time on the side. Once that Internet Company is thriving, it's time to move onto the next Web Site. When, and only then, your income from your web sites pays for your expenses then you might consider devoting more time to your Internet Companies. But once again, the key is having separate streams so that if one were to ever dry up, the other sites would fill in the gaps.

Ideally, look for ways to multiply your efforts (don't just trade time for money)

I am sure that none of you want to build an Internet Business just so you can trade one job for another. What I mean by that is if you quit your job and then end up spending the same amount of time in front of a computer, what's the point.

I don't want you to create a job, I want you to create a business that will work if you're there or not. What I love about my various Internet companies is that they work, whether I'm in front of the computer or not.

With this, I can be in two places at once. I can be on vacation in Mexico and still be generating an income or I can be at my daughter's dance recital and still be generating income. That's the beauty of the Internet, once I've set up my website's foundation, they can run on their own with very little maintenance.

Find a market that will continue growing no matter what the economy is

With sales on the Internet projected to grow over 130 billion over the next four years it is easy to see why the Internet is a good choice. These numbers are actually helped during a recession. Here's why, during a recession there is less disposable income, however, people still want to purchase "things" that will make them forget about the current economic situation or make them feel good.

Whether it's gas prices or not wanting to be "pressured" into a buying decision, these consumers are turning to the Internet. They know that if they purchase online, the product will be delivered right to their front door and that they will not have to deal with pushy sales people. Not to mention the convenience this provides you can see why this trend will only continue to increase and now's the time to get in.

Conclusion

If you've ever wished for something more, you're not alone. If you've ever wished for the freedom that owning your own business brings, you're closer than you think. The Internet is the great equalizer, it has created a level playing field for anyone with an dream of freedom and the will to take action.

A recession-proof life is closer than you think, it's just waiting for you to stand up and grab hold. But if you're thinking that someone else is going to create that dream for you, you're wrong and you need to move out of the Industrial Age and into the Information Age, an age that has created more millionaires than in any other time in history. Will you be the next person to create a recession-proof life or are you going to let starting be the thing that stops you. The choice is yours.
