Diets cause fatness rather than helping you to lose weight and I know at first that sounds a ridiculous statement to make. The reason diets cause fatness is down to the fact that when you stop the diet and your body realises it can eat as much as it likes, it causes you to eat more. What your body is doing is stocking up for anytime in the future it may be deprived of energy (food) again.
So each time you follow a diet, especially a crash diet, and you stop following the diet your body stores up extra fat just in case you deprive it of food in the future. So each time you come off the diet you will probably find that after a few weeks or months your weight will have crept up until you are heavier than what you was before you started on the diet.
This will be recognised by most people who have followed crash diets. The other problem with crash diets is that they are only based on losing weight and not changing your eating habits. So when you finish the diet and return to your old eating habits you pile on the weight again. The crash diets cause fatness rather than helping you to maintain the weight loss long term.
One of the other downsides to crash diets is that you have to stay on a strict diet of only eating certain foods. This is the wrong way to diet as the reverse psychology of the mind comes into play. As soon as someone is told that they can not have a certain food they will crave it even more. This explains why, if you have followed crash diets in the past, that you failed by getting stuck into that bar of chocolate or the packet of biscuits.
The only way you can lose weight and have any chance of keeping it off, is to follow a healthy diet program that not only helps you lose weight but also helps you to become used to a healthier way of eating. There are hundreds if not thousands of healthy eating programs to chose from.
A good diet program has to be based on healthy eating, and also needs to help educate people on the need for eating healthier. You do not have to worry these days as most modern diet plans do not revolve around cottage cheese and salads. The really good diet programs even allow room for treats so that you can have that serving of chocolate cake after your dinner.
To help you further I have actually taken the three top diet program available on the internet and trialled them for you. I based the trial on certain criteria such as , how effective the weight loss was, how healthy the diets were, how well they educate people regarding healthy eating, and the best value for money.
There was one clear winner out of the three programs I experimented with, but what really surprised me was that there was not that much difference between them, based on weight loss alone. I would go as far as to say that for weight loss all three performed really well.
