The use of cards or business cards as they were popularly known, is still widespread, even in this era of electronic communications. Technologies of instant communication such as Bluetooth and infrared connectivity are easier and more handy ways to send and receive data and information, including those contained in a card. However, people especially businessmen still carry small stacks of business cards, give them every chance they get and at the slightest provocation. Never tell a business man, you call and he'll give you his card, faster than you can say "Jack Robinson" whatsoever, regardless of the fact that he gave you one earlier.
This proves that business cards still play a vital role in business or even daily, because even those not in the business, such as students, have calling cards in their name. Why? A number of reasons have been advanced features of the card, and they are going to be a source of personal pride in a business tool.
A card will normally contain the owner's name, form or list of companies or services, by phone or contact numbers, and a kind of motto or slogan for the company. In this way, the cardholder must immediately see the card if the card owner is the appropriate solution to their immediate needs. So in fact the card acts as a sort of "sleeper" or advertising inactive for the owner, consulted when necessary.
Many people accept business cards from others and quickly forget the card and the right person after. Then, the card is retained when the owner needs to contact the owner of the social map, and if the card is dredged up from the dustbin of "where-I-don't-place-it 'questions.Or, you may not care what the guy sells, but he is so hunky.
If you know a friend who needed his boat engine repair and you bump into someone who does this, you may want to ask the card to go to your friend, who could later he moves to another with similar needs. Without the card, nor the potential client will remember the operator of the boat engine service when service is required. With it, the owner of the card may well capture an association for canoeing.
It is simply smart to give business cards, even if the owner does not business. It gives its owner a sense of "superiority", if a more appropriate term on the other. It is also much easier to hand just a receptionist, for example, your business card instead of explain who you are.
