It is the job of the Aviation Mechanics to handle all maintenance records associated with the aircraft. When analyzing an engine, you will need direct access to it. In some cases, you need to disassemble the engine with the help of specialized equipments and for invisible cracks, you may need X-ray equipment. Once your engine analysis is finished, you must substitute or repair any defective parts.
Aviation Mechanics also repair composite surfaces and sheet metal. When measuring control cable tension, you need to be extra careful. Aviation Mechanics specializing in power plants are work on the engines. However, their role is limited when it comes to propellers. Aviation Mechanics specializing in airframes can work on any aircraft part but they are not allowed in the equipment and power plant. A&P Mechanics can implement work on all aircraft parts except equipment. The airframe consists of fuselage, tail assembly and wings brakes.
The main responsibility of Avionics Technicians is to repair and maintain the aircraft’s avionics systems. These systems are an important part of the overall aircraft design. With the advancement in technology, more and more Aviation Mechanics focus on repairing electronic systems.
