Going on holidays is exciting and organizing one can be stressful. But once you leave home it should be relaxing.

It should be calm and peaceful and definitely not back breaking. Back breaking? Yes, from having too much packed in your luggage.

There is just no need for it. And no one wants to be visiting the chiropractor whilst on holidays.

So, the only solution is to pack light. To limit the amount of clothing you take.

In your normal life, it is great to wear all the latest fashions, have matching jewelry for everything and matching shoes. But when on holidays it’s time to relax and that means relaxing your dress code as well.

When ever I go on holidays, by about day 2 I don’t really care what I’m wearing and always end up wearing heaps less outfits then I thought. And… you can wash while on holidays or splash out and have it done for you. For some reason we seems to forget you can wash when planning a trip away.

The first step to minimal packing is to make a list of what will be required. Take in consideration your planned activities and the weather.

So, make a list of what clothes you will need. Roughly plan each day of your trip and work out what to wear each day. Try and wear outfits that can go from day to night, casual to dressy, easily and quickly.

Get all the clothes out you think you will need. Now take a good hard look and put some back – you really don’t need them. Which pieces of clothing need pressing – put them back. Which clothes are trendy and fun but have only one purpose – put them back. Got the idea?

If in doubt, put it back. You can always buy a shirt or two whilst away with a logo on it as a reminder of your holiday.

So next time you pack your luggage, make a list of your clothes and then put half of them back.

You will be so glad you did and so will your back. You will have a great holiday and won’t really miss all those extra clothes at all.
