A case study includes a detailed account of a particular person, group or incident that you wish to highlight. Case study dissertations are based on qualitative research to explore facts and description of that particular topic. The main factor to consider in this dissertation is that you are not interested in universal facts but the factors involved, what are the variables that played a part, the circumstances in which it occurred and what actually happened.
Case study dissertation is extremely helpful in the learning process. It helps you to analyze a particular incident in detail and understand its nature but at the same time you cannot generalize your research findings because the stats that you have obtained are only relevant to a particular incident so if a similar event takes place later on, you cannot label its cause on the same grounds.
How to write case studies dissertation? First of all you need to be very well aware of the different types of case studies and the one that you would like to follow. You need to examine each type and figure out which type suits you best in accordance with the topic that you have selected. The second step is to search for secondary data available. Jot down the important points that will help you to proceed with your research. The third step is primary research. This involves collection of data using methods as interviewing, using questionnaires and via observation and etc. After the compilation of all the data, you need to analyze and compare the findings via both primary and secondary reach and come up with a conclusion.
Case study dissertations can be written in different forms. You can write them in narrative form i.e. the way a story is written, or you can write in interrogative form where you pose a question and then elaborate it or simply in a descriptive form where you start with introduction i.e. history or background followed by research findings and then conclusion.
All in all case study dissertation is really helpful for students as it allows them to analyze the actual life problems in detail and apply their logic to solve it with the help of theories learned in the class room.
