Drug test is the most common test in the vast field of sports. Players and athletes are often found to be on drugs to improve their performance level. Taking drugs does not always mean addiction. Some player fails to pass a drug test just because of taking some medicines. These medicines may not be strength boosting, but still they get detected in a drug test. Moreover, these medicines are often prescribed by their doctors. But, there are also some players, who intentionally take steroids or any other drug to increase their stamina and energy level, gets caught, do not pass a drug test and gets expelled from the team or even from the competition.
Apart from getting expelled, drug addicted players often face severe health problems. And sometimes this can be fatal for them. Some illegal drugs used in sports are Anabolic steroids, Androstenedione, Erythropoietin (EPO) etc. These drugs can give a player the temporary energy or stamina boost they need for the moment, but it affects their health a lot. Sometimes, their carrier comes to an end.
Drugs for sportsperson differ according to their game in which they are experts. As for example, archers take sedative which helps them to concentrate and have a steady hand. One common example is marijuana. On a contrary, wrestlers often use diuretics to expel the excessive water from their body. Drugs like caffeine are also used to enhance aggressiveness and performance. Players often use common painkillers (which is also considered as a drug) to suppress their pain while playing so that they can compete with this usual capability. But, this intake of painkillers is not always for such illegal purpose. Players do take painkillers when they suffer from excessive pain caused due to any injury. Still, they get sacked from the team or competition for this as they cannot pass the drug test although this painkiller had been prescribed by that person’s team doctor.
Urine and blood test is common drug test in the sports world. Sportspersons who are on drugs cannot pass a drug test as they are tested while the tournament is on, and that is not much time for a drug to get undetectable. Urine and blood test is quite enough for the type of drugs that are used by the players. Many famous sportsperson has been detained off their title that they own after using drugs. Drug addiction has always been a matter of shame to the world of sports. This illegal use of drugs in sports started long ago. And even after such a long time some players still use these illegal drugs. Sometimes, blame their personal physicist for those medicines when they fail to pass a drug test jeopardizing the profession of that person.
Strict measures must be taken to stop the use of illegal use of drugs in sports. Players who fail to pass the drug test should be banned for life from his area of expertise otherwise we can lose some real stars from the world.
