Ringworm symptoms include a variety of easily recognizable markers. It is identified by its red raised patches on the skin, which may be scaly or include blisters.
Ringworm got its name from the reddish colored flat rings that it can cause to break out on your body. It is a highly contagious fungus that can break out on your body, feet, head, and your nails.
The most often seen form of ringworm is when it appears on the skin as round, red rings hence the name ‘ringworm’.
Scalp ringworm causes one or more round, scaly itchy, patches of hair loss on the scalp. In more severe infections the skin is crusted, and a raised inflamed boggy mass may develop from the patch.
You can get ringworm by showering in a locker room, playing on a gym mat, using the comb or the hat of someone infected, and even walking around the unwashed area of a swimming pool.
Ringworm does not only exist in humans but is also a very common disease among domestic animals like dogs, cats and farm animals.
You can keep the causes of ringworm at bay by regularly airing your locker and keeping your skin covered from constant dampness.
This common type of ringworm of the scalp is highly resistant to regular treatments, rarely being successfully cured with local antifungal medications.
Fortunately, ringworm is not usually as sinister as its name indicates. With the proper treatment, the average case of ringworm can be completely cured within 5-6 days.
The body ringworm does not include the scalp ringworm, the groin ringworm, the hands or feet ringworm. Body ringworm refers to lesions found on the trunk, leg and arms, neck and face.
Ringworm is contagious and easily spread, especially among young children. You should avoid sharing combs, brushes, hats, and other personal hygiene items with someone who is infected with ringworm.
There are many over-the-counter ringworm scalp treatments that you can get at your local pharmacy. Most of these ringworm scalp treatments take about 4 weeks to completely eliminate the infection.
Ringworm is a fungal infection caused by organisms called dermatophytes. Ringworm can affect the skin, hair, feet and nails.
Natural ringworm treatments can be used by the whole family at the same time. This saves you money on the need to buy a different cure for every member of your family.
Scalp ringworm is a fungal infection on the head. Some characteristics are loss of hair in the area or itchiness. Scalp Ringworm usually occurs in children because they have a tendency to share hats, towels, and combs.
If you have ringworm, you will need to first get an anti-fungal medication. This will help to kill off the bacteria in that area.
Ringworm can be spread between humans and animals in the same time. There is a risk for each one of us to catch ringworms, but more vulnerable are people that suffer from eczema.
People or animals that already have this disease can pass it on to someone else by skin contact especially if the infected part has an open wound.
