If there is a dirty word in the mlm industry this one has to be it!

RETENTION!!! Keeping people you sponsor from dropping out after 3-6 months. Why is this such a dirty word? Because you and I both know that if you don't keep your new distributors you don't make money and you must continue to find new distributors to replace them.

Without a killer retention rate you will never be able to truly retire and live on the beach and drink from a coconut shell, because you will have to keep recruiting, recruiting, recruiting!!!! I know there are some exceptions to this, but are you one of those exceptions? If you are more power to you!

The average home based business owner recruits 2 1/2 people into their down line before quiting or moving on to the NBT (next big thing) . The average retention rate in the mlm industry is 12-15 %. A 5th grader can do the math and tell you that adds up to no profit and failure as a business owner.

David Wood told me one time and I haven't forgotten it, he said, "if your retention rate is less than 50 % you will never be able to retire in this industry". I thought, you have got to be kidding me, is 50 % even possible! Well he showed me that it was and that it is possible to even do better than that.

How can you increase your retention rate, sign up more reps, and one day walk away and never have to worry about money or anything ever again?

  1. Give your sign ups what they need!

a. They need prospects/quality leads (i.e. not family & friends)

b. They need to make some money really fast (this is probably why they signed up in the first place).

You may be the best recruiter in the history of mlm, but if you can't give your new people these two things they will come through your front door and exit your back quicker than a bulldog jumps on a bone.

  1. Give your sign ups what they don't know they need!

a. They don't know it but they need a system they can follow that will teach them how to market online because that is the future the now of success in this industry. They can still build their business old school if they choose to do so, but at least give them that option for your sake & theirs.

b. They don't know this but you probably do and they will figure it out soon enough, they need to become an alpha leader asap. If you don't know what I'm talking about than you need to pick up a copy of "Magnetic Sponsoring" by Mike Dillard. Key to their survival & your retirement is teaching, educating, training, and developing your new people into leaders/professionals as quickly as is possible. "The greatest stars in this industry are those who give birth to other stars!"

  1. Make sure your in a company that is compatible with higher retention!

a. Do they have a competitive priced product (i.e. not something someone can get at WallyWorld for 1/2 price)

b. Do they have a compensation plan that rewards everyone for the work they do? A plan that doesnt' require x number of products to be purchased before they can qualify for a commission. A product they will continue to purchase because of the value it brings to their lives?

I listened to some training a while back by Mark Yarnell, he shared 5 things that are essential if you want to be successful in this business and earn a $100K a month. The Number 1 thing>>>"Make sure your Core Values Match your companies core values." He said he always ask himself this question, "Would I recruit momma into this opportunity?"

You want to increase your retention rate? You want to really help your new sign ups to success and profit? You want to create a solid down line that will one day allow you to walk away and be done forever, financially free? Than give them what they want, give them what they don't know they want, and give them an opportunity in an mlm company that you believe in and will stick with!!!!
