Located in southeastern Burnet County near highway 71, the community of Spicewood is within a short distance from the city of Austin. As a result, residents of Spicewood are able to enjoy easy access to the city and all that it has to offer, while still experiencing the small town community feel found in Spicewood.
For those who love spending time near the water, the community of Spicewood is a great place to live. This small community is filled with a number of spring-fed creeks, some of which are lined with magnificent cypress trees. Some of the creeks that can be found within the Spicewood community include:

Krause Springs, which is actually comprised of 32 different springs, is also located near to the community of Spicewood. The main at Krause Springs produces 70 gallons of water per minute, when then pushes through a swimming pool that is 70 feet long before rushing down a 30 foot limestone cliff that is covered with mosses, ferns, elephant's ears and watercress. Ultimately, the water ends up accumulating in a large natural pool found in Krause Springs.
Thanks to its proximity to Lake Travis as well as the numerous creeks and springs found in the area, it is no surprise that Spicewood is a popular vacation destination for those who enjoy outdoor recreation. Some activities that are particularly popular in the area include fishing, water sports and hunting. In addition, two of the 22 Texas Hill Country wineries are found in the Spicewood area: Spicewood Vineyards on Burnet County Road and Sister Creek Vineyards on Sisterdale Road.

• Arnold Palmer Lakeside Course, which is locate on Clubhouse Hill Drive and features 6,657 yards and 18 holes with a par 71
• Austin Golf Club, which is located on State Highway 71 W and features 6,892 yards and 18 holes on a par 70
• Pedernales Country Club, which is located on Paisley Drive and features 3,330 yards and 9 holes on a par 36
• Lakecliff Golf Course, which is located on Kahala Sunset Drive and features 6,750 yards and 18 holes on a par 71
Several other golf courses are also found within a 10 mile radius from the center of Spicewood. Similarly, Spicewood is within close proximity to a wide variety of dining opportunities, particularly when it comes to those that are found in the city of Austin. Spicewood itself also has several dining opportunities to explore for those who want to prefer to drive just a few minutes to enjoy a great meal. As such, Spicewood's residents enjoy the option of taking in a meal in the city or enjoying a leisurely meal at home within the beautiful community of Spicewood.
