Vitamins are essential nutrients that are required by the body for various functions. They are requirement in tiny amounts but perform the important functions. The term Vitamins is being made from the two terms "Vital" and "Minerals". These two terms were combined to form Vitamins. Any compound is in mineral form, play a vital role in body functions, and essentially required by the body is called Vitamin. They can not be synthesized by the body and needs to be obtained from diet. Basically you need to eat the vegetarian diet to get the good amount of the Vitamins as the plants get them from soil and then they are passed on to the humans. The source of Vitamin is not so important but amount is certainly. The vitamins are differentiated into types depending upon the role they play in body.
Uses of Vitamins
Vitamin A: This Vitamin is required by the immune system to produce necessary amount of the antibodies to fight against the antigens. It is necessary for cell growth and proper functioning of all body organs. Vitamin A is necessary for strong bones, and healthy skin. Betacarotene also known as pro-vitamin A is very good for the eyesight. It is very helpful in treating gum disorders, allergies, asthma, and sinusitis. Sources of Vitamin A are egg yolks, carrot, dairy products, green leafy vegetables, and fish liver oil.
Vitamin B1: It is essential form of Vitamin B that helps you to maintain good muscles. Muscles develop from the proteins but with the help of the Vitamin B1. This vitamin plays a significant role in the conversion of sugar and starch into energy. Metabolism of fats and proteins takes place in the presence of this Vitamin.
Vitamin B2: It guides the cell respiration and growth process. Metabolism of carbohydrate takes place in the presence of this vitamin. It is necessarily required for the blood cell formation. Vitamin B12 promotes healthy hair and alleviates eye fatigue.
Vitamin B3: Digestive system works systematically in the presence of this Vitamin. It helps in lowering the LDL (bad cholesterol) and raising HDL (good cholesterol). It is Helpful in reducing high blood pressure. Vitamin B3 is mainly involved in proper activity of nervous system.
Vitamin B5: Necessary vitamin production of certain hormones and antibodies. It is essential for the metabolism of fats and sugar to energy. Basically, Vitamin B5 plays a significant role in the growth and development. This vitamin is very essential for the young kids to grow healthy.
Vitamin B6: This protein functions to help the body to utilize the proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. It assists in synthesizing of anti-bodies in the immune system. It helps in proper functioning of the brain and nervous system. It also plays a role in production of the red blood cells.
Vitamin B12: Important in maintaining health. It is needed for digestion, absorption of carbohydrates and fat metabolism. It is key nutrient for the enhancement of normal growth routine.
Vitamin C: Vitamin C is significant vitamin required for various body functions. It helps to regulate the adequate amounts of fluid in the body and maintains the body temperature at normal level. It is useful in treatment of cardiovascular disorders, allergies, gout, and diabetes. It also helps in the weight loss process for the obese people.
Vitamin D: This vitamin is necessary for prevention or treatment osteoporosis and psoriasis. It helps in absorption of Calcium that helps in proper development of strong bones and teeth. Reduces the chances of breast, colon, prostate, and ovarian cancer.
Vitamin E: It is useful protection of lungs from air pollution and prevents tumor growth. It is essential for maintaining rigidity of cell membranes. It plays a significant role in protecting damage to skin, eye, liver, and breast tissue.
Vitamin H or B7: It plays an important role in production of hormones and cholesterol. It is useful in diabetes to reduce sugar levels. Also helps the body to maintain the growth rate of cells and regulate the production of the antibodies for safety of the body.
Vitamin K: It is required mainly for the blood coagulation. It also plays a role in helping the proteins to get converted in the form in which body can utilize. Vitamin K intake is necessary for the body to maintain the protein level in the body at the required levels.
