Backache, as the name suggest, is nothing but pain in the back. It is one of the most common ailments of the mankind. Medically, it can be considered as lumbago especially when the backache is lower backache. It is a discomfort in the area of lower back and this pain could be acute or chronic. If it has lasted more than couple of months, it needs medical attention. Backache is very commonly seen in women. Most common reason is menstrual periods.
To ease your backache though, stand with your feet shoulder width apart, arms out stretched and then slowly twist on direction as far as you can. Hold it at this limit for 2 seconds and then twist in the opposite direction. Do this for 1-2 minutes and joint tension will decrease and ease your backache. One of the easiest and quickest ways to ease backache is to get moving. Going for a walk, getting up from your desk chair, and being active helps to improve the blood supply and help movement in the area.
Backache caused is degenerative disease, metabolic diseases or congenital. Acute or chronic illnesses like kidney or prostate problems, female disorders, Influenza, and arthritis, may also lead to backache. It can be the result of developmental problems or a tumour. Use this list as a basis of the possible causes of back pain. Backaches occasionally stem from a congenital (present from birth) malformation.
You also must understand that these are only the physical factors. The reason these occur is that your day to day life overloads your body and these factors build. You have general health issues and stress issues that allow your muscles and joints to tire and tighten. If you do nothing about your backache, or only deal with the symptoms of backache, it will either remain or return. This process then creates your chronic back pain.
People find these kinds of pains to be more common as they grow older. Though there are no gender specifics, lumbago may be a bit more in men than in women. In Ayurveda, backache is called as Nithamba Shoola. Ayurveda treats this pain as a vata disorder, which causes both the types of weaknesses, i.e. the bone weakness and the muscle weakness. Hence when deciding on a proper treatment pattern for backache, one needs to consider the vitiation of the vata dosha.
Patients suffering from kidney ailments, too, frequently experience lower left backache. A very conservative kind of treatment needs to be recommended for dealing with pain in this region. In case an individual suffers pain because of an acute kidney problem, he should not be given the same kind of treatment as one gets for a pulled back muscle. In fact, with incorrect treatment, more harm can be caused to the back.
Make sure you get enough rest and sleep. You should also avoid strenuous activities as this tends to aggravate early pregnancy backache. Another way of dealing with early pregnancy backache is to do yoga. You will be able to alleviate your backache by doing appropriate yoga exercises. You should also look for special massages for pregnant women to help you deal with early pregnancy backache.
