Whooping cough is an infectious bacterial illness that affects the respiratory passages. The disease is most contagious during the cold-like initial phase (catarrhal phase). In its early stages, pertussis is indistinguishable from the many colds common in children. However, after one or two weeks, the illness gets progressively worse. Whooping cough however is easier to detect or diagnose today than it was a decade or so ago, thanks to improved channels of passing information and improved health care services. The Government is working hand in hand with these institutions to create awareness on the importance of immunizing young children against this deadly cough, which reduces the chances of catching the illness.
Garlic (Allium sativum) Garlic is an excellent remedy for whooping cough. The syrup of two to three pieces of garlic must be taken two to three times a day in the case of whooping cough. Antitussives are useful in suppressing dry, hacking coughs. (Specific products may be recommended by a physician or pharmacist.). One of the most unpleasant coughs is a paroxysmal cough. One when the coughing comes in spells or spasms. It's hard to catch your breath between the spasms. So you may go blue. Aromatherapy is a gentle and noninvasive complementary health care system used for balancing and synchronizing your body, mind, spirit and emotions to enhance your health. Properly administered essential oils are a natural, safe and effective way to enhance your health and well-being and can produce satisfying results where other methods have failed.
The symptomatic treatment for cough is controversial, and certain prohibitions can apply in many ways. If a child is under four, you shouldn't give any old cough syrup without checking with doctor. These can affect the respiratory drive mechanism in little ones with disastrous results. Over the age of two things with lemon and honey are probably safe. Leaves of Butea (butea monosperma) are used in treating cough due to septic and sore throats. Solution is prepared by boiling leaves in water and using the water as mouthwash in order to benefit from its healing properties.
Make a tea of honey, lemon juice and hot water. Take 1 cup hot water and mix 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice and raw honey to taste. This is full of vitamin C from the lemon and the natural enzymes from the honey. The honey coats the throat. Homeopathiic treatment in general, and not cough treatment in particular, relies on seeing a match between you and the medicine. It can be the cause (for example Arnica and injuries are typically a great match). A very simple way to stop coughs in the night is to place three to four pieces of long pepper in the mouth. Chew them slightly so that their extract oozes into the mouth. As long as the peppers remain in the mouth, the urge to cough will be suppressed and you will get a restful sleep at night.
Dry cough can be expelled or suppressed by drinking an herbal tea made from the herb known as the slippery elm. The herb will also help soothe the throat. For taste add some marshmallow to the herbal tea for effect.
